Scope Statement
The Business Process Lead will be responsible for identifying, analyzing and implementing process change initiatives to optimize business productivity and add value to the customer experience through quality and service improvements. The incumbent is guided by defined procedural constraints, and works under the general supervision of the Manager, Process Improvement.
Impact Statement
Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate opportunities and solutions that drive specific business outcomes and goals
Execute solutions targeted towards improving the business’s overall performance and deliver significant and quantifiable process improvements and financial benefit across the business unit
Act as liaison with IT to assess needs and business risks and conduct analysis to support the Divisional portfolio of strategic and business initiatives, system projects and maintenance work
Responsibilities include
Collaborate with management to identify, quantify and deliver change initiatives that are directly aligned with business unit objectives and strategies
Review & develop process architecture, cost benefit analysis (CBA’s) and risk assessments
Provide input into planning decisions, monitor and report any changes in requirements, manage and report status of business analysis progress against project plan
Complete gap analysis, identify key performance indicators (KPI’s) necessary for successful process performance and provide senior management with reports on progress
Ensure that solutions meet stakeholder objectives; review technical design deliverables; conduct usability assessment; support User Acceptance Testing efforts as required and participate in Quality Management assessments of processes and deliverables
Utilize cost-benefit analysis to assist in the evaluating and ensuring the financial viability of initiatives and develop and deliver a diverse range of analytics including financial, operations, optimization, and efficiencies
Create a complete and accurate Business Requirements Document, make recommendations on appropriate requirements, communicate objectives and approaches and conduct stakeholder review to obtain approval
Evaluate processes and analyze data and input from multiple sources to formulate innovative solutions to complex/critical business process issues that impact the business unit
Manage the progress and delivery of key initiatives to achieve quantifiable process improvements to optimize financial and/or customer service benefits by applying Lean-Six Sigma principles and Agile methodologies
Design and develop models, practices and procedures to utilize across the business unit
Act to make things better for the stakeholder by identifying and developing KPIs, SLAs, metrics and scorecards as well as developing and/or implementing process performance dashboards based on business requirements
Manage collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders including distribution partners and vendors to support project plans
Facilitate integration of process improvements into suppliers’ products in order to support overall project goal
Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to proactively manage schedules to deliver outstanding solutions
Knowledge / Experience / Certification
5+ years relevant work experience in a production work environment
Knowledge of Lean-Six Sigma, Agile methodologies and process improvement methodologies
Advanced experience with of MSOffice Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; knowledge of SQL
Knowledge of Change Management principles
Knowledge of Statistical Analysis processes
Knowledge of the Insurance business: processes, systems, data sources, customers, products, channels, regulations, competition, industry trends
Bilingualism is an asset
Completion of one or more of FLMI, ALMI, ACS, AIAA or equivalent industry courses is an asset
Education / Professional Courses
Completion of a university degree, in business, engineering or a related discipline
Business Analysis courses: Requirements Elicitation, Solution Assessment and Validation
Knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as Stata, XLSTAT, MatLab, SAS is an asset
