Corporate Financial Analyst

Department: Financial Reporting

Hours of Work: Full-Time Position; Days

Salary: BCI $57,329.22 – $70,096.16

Location: Primarily the KGH Site.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to a Manager within Financial Services, this role provides dedicated financial support for effective preparation, development, maintenance and reporting of financial information of the Hospital, including Other Votes or Programs, and special projects.

 

Within this role the employee is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the Kingston Health Sciences Centre strategy.  As an employee, one must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for actively promoting and supporting patient and family centered engagement and care in all we do.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Prepare budget, quarterly and year-end reporting for Other Votes and Programs and special projects (revenues, salaries, expenses, benefits and other expenses).  Ensure all elements required by the funding agency are included in the package.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations, analysis and general ledger postings for various general ledger accounts.
  • Completes corporate treasury function including accounting for investments and daily/monthly website banking transactions (including EFT transmissions for vendors and payroll).
  • Oversight of Patient and Non-patient activity master data in SAP
  • Coordinate AR/AP process including but not limited to:
    • Audit oversight of cheque requisition ensuring adherence to hospital policy and OHRS guildelines for account coding
    • Daily treasury audit oversight of cash journals and petty cash activity
    • Download and upload oversight for accounts receivable and accounts payable sub ledgers
  • Adheres to worker responsibilities as set out in the Occupational Health & Safety Act, hospital safety policies, and dept/unit established procedures at all times.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Business/Accounting degree or 3 year Community College Diploma in Business/Accounting.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years accounting experience, including 1 year hospital experience.
  • Experience working in an integrated financial software environment.
  • Financial analysis & budgeting experience considered an asset
  • Skills:Strong people and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload
  • Tactful, innovative, takes initiative, able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office products, with intermediate to advanced level Excel skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting and variance analysis
  • Knowledge of MIS/OHRS reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge of CICA standards for Public Sector Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations.
  • Satisfactory CPIC with vulnerable sector search
