Job Summary: The Canadian Division Financial Reporting Shared Service Centre (FSSC) is a team of Finance professionals who work as one to provide innovative business solutions, insightful information and advice, equipping our customers to strategically manage their business and meet their goals. Reporting to the Manager, FSSC, the Senior Financial Analyst , Retail Insurance Financial Reporting & Analysis is responsible for successfully delivering value-added and insightful information, reporting and analysis to drive decision making for the Retail Insurance business unit, and the Canadian Division Finance leadership team. The Senior Financial Analyst will lead the production of monthly and quarterly reporting of Insurance financial results with a focus on the Non-Participating product lines, as well as external reporting and other indicators. This role will also work with other Finance teams across the division to complete the implementation of the Ledger Based SOE project. Performing quality analysis and developing a thorough understanding of this information is critical. The incumbent will also play a lead role by interpreting results and effectively telling the story through the crafting of key messages. Key Accountabilities:

Provide value-added financial analysis, and support the Business Unit’s and FSSC Management by interpreting results and effectively composing key messages, contributing to clear, concise commentary on results.

Play lead role in the development and implementation of any new Insurance reporting and profitability analysis requirements.

Build relationships and establish a high level of trust and credibility with Retail Insurance Finance teams (Reporting, Actuarial, and Expense Management).

Foster a “work as one” culture by developing strong relationships with Actuarial teams and other teams that this role works very closely with on a regular basis.

Ensure accuracy of information and output delivered. Identify and recommend best practices, process, and controls. Demonstrate commitment toward continuously updating knowledge and skills.

Demonstrate a strong understanding and working knowledge regarding technical aspects of the work, possessing sufficient knowledge and intuition to be able to independently verify information. This includes understanding drivers of Insurance reserve activity and related accounting treatment.

Play lead role as Finance representative on BU-specific projects by leveraging technical and business unit knowledge, and make recommendations for implementing best practices.

Responsible for identifying and implementing continuous financial process improvements that positively impact the timeliness and integrity of financial reporting and data.

Use appropriate judgment in dealing with issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to effectively prioritize work, balance resource requirements and determine solutions. Qualifications

Accounting designation CPA (CMA, CGA, CA) with 3-5 years of relevant experience in progressive accounting roles (Insurance experience a definite asset)

Excellent customer focus and commitment to quality

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, and influence effectively

Self-starter with the ability to work independently, particularly in using sound, independent judgment, problem-solving and analytical skills

Resilient and adaptable

Results-oriented, work under tight timelines and manage competing priorities

Leadership skills that inspire and engage colleagues to achieve objectives as one

Strong business acumen with ability to communicate complex financial concepts and results in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner (verbal & written).

Knowledge of Essbase Cubes and Lawson is an asset.
