Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be primarily responsible for preparing and maintaining monthly general ledger reconciliations, performing financial analyses and assisting with month-end requirements.
Specific responsibilities include:
Perform general ledger accounting functions including journal entry preparation, month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting accuracy and compliance to IFRS/ASPE accounting standards, GL account reconciliations and analysis of key balance sheet and income statement account balance movements
Investigate reconciling items and reduce repetitive discrepancies, if any
Work closely with the Senior Accountant, the Regional Services Centre and internal departments to identify opportunities for efficiencies and implement solutions appropriately
Assist in the review and testing of internal controls and department process maps
Perform monthly and quarterly testing for system releases to ensure changes are implemented correctly in accordance to IFRS/ASPE accounting guidelines as well as business requirements; assist in new project initiatives
Assist with the preparation of year-end audit working papers and interaction with internal and external auditors
Assist with ad-hoc requests
Minimum 2 years work experience in Accounting required
University degree or actively pursuing an Accounting designation
Automotive industry experience preferred
Proven analytical, research and problem solving skills
Knowledge of Data Analytics Tools is preferred (i.e. Tableau, QlikView)
Excellent organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience with SAP and/or business intelligence software is strongly preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
