Job Description

Points is looking for an Accounting Analyst to join our Finance team on a permanent basis in our downtown Toronto office.

The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for Balance Sheet Management and special projects. This will include, reconciling numerous balance sheet accounts for the Points Group of Companies, special projects and improving current processes through the use of technology.

Reporting to the Operational Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and accruals (excluding bank reconciliations)
  • Balance Sheet Management, including ensuring all reconciliations and lead-sheets are prepared on time and included in the month end binder
  • Ensuring all Funds Receivable from Payment Processors and Partner Liability reconciliations are prepared timely and differences are analyzed and resolved, in cooperation with the Team Lead Revenue
  • Assisting the team with further automation and improvement of current processes
  • Calculating the AFDA based on review of the AR aging
  • Collecting on outstanding AR, if any
  • Calculating the Charge-back provision
  • Preparation of Earn Mall remittances and reporting
  • Fixed asset and Intangible Asset maintenance, reconciliation and reporting
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly HST filings
  • Contributing to the preparation of internal and external financial reporting requirements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis where required, including reporting to external auditors and Audit Committee
  • Communication with internal and external parties as required to perform job duties
  • Ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls as related to role
  • Ensuring month-end and quarter-end SOX checklists are completed and filed
  • Assisting in preparation of information for the annual financial statement audit and quarterly financial statement review
  • Ad hoc reports to support the accounting team and business
  • Active participant on Company Project teams such as Automation of Earn Malls, Transition to BlackLine, Oracle NetSuite Phase 2
  • Preparation and Support of Accounting entries in Oracle NetSuite

Qualifications

  • 3+ years Accounting experience in a progressive organization with a focus on public companies
  • University or college degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other related field
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite and Flocast is an asset
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word and Powerpoint and Google Docs
  • Professional accounting designation (or pursuing designation) is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize many tasks and responsibilities while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Cooperative and service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to initiate action to accomplish an objective and goals; be proactive
  • Ability to analyze issues with limited direction and present recommendations to supervisor
