T&T Supermarket Inc. was found in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly to become Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 29 stores across the country: 13 in Metro Vancouver, 6 in Alberta, and 10 in Ontario (8 in GTA and 1 in Ottawa, 1 in Waterloo).
The Role:
Reporting to the Manager – Business Analysis, the role is responsible for designing, coding and improving our company web pages, programs, and applications. The ideal candidate for this position is a hands-on professional with strong knowledge of content management, e-commerce solutions and other bespoke web-based products and platforms, and an ability to translate our business needs into client-friendly functions that will expand our website’s influence in our industry.
This position is also reporting to IT Manager – Business Solution on technical related area. This position is required working with IT development team closely to maintain all the systems working smoothly.
Major Responsibilities:
- Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs, such as tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
- Write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow chart and diagram, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic.
- Correct errors by making appropriate changes and then rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced.
- Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
- Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program.
- Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
- Perform or direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users.
- Prepare detailed workflow charts and diagrams that describe input, output, and logical operation, and convert them into a series of instructions coded in a computer language.
- Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software as a systems application developer.
- Consult with and assist computer operators or system analysts to define and resolve problems in running computer programs.
- Perform peer review of computer programs developed by other application developers.
- Keep abreast of new programming technology and technique.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
- Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
- The position requires constant communication with colleagues.
- Possess 2 year or more hands on experience with programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, PHP, Java.
- Hands on experience with API development with mySql , and MS SQL database.
- Working experience with Magento and WordPress is a plus.
- Strong grasp of security principles and knowledge about E-Commerce applications is a definite advantage.
- A bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred
- Certification, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering (MCSE), Project Management, or other designation relating to application system development job skills is an asset
- Good presentation and communication skills; possess highly systematic & analytical problem-solving ability, highly concentrated and detail oriented
- Service oriented with good interpersonal and customer relations skills
- Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and responsiveness in completing tasks
