Business Analyst Intern

We’re searching for a smart, business minded, technically savvy Intern to join our Toronto team as a Business Analyst and help build the next generation of our platform. This role will play an instrumental role in driving our growth by producing the research, analysis and reporting that will inform our business decisions and strategy.

If you’re a wizard with spreadsheets, have an impressively analytical mind and are not afraid to deep dive into the details, we want you to help us grow Swiggle across North America.

Roles and responsibilities:

Working directly with our Co-founder and Team Leads, the Business Analyst will be involved in the following areas:

  • Strategy: You will research growth opportunities of new verticals in retail ecommerce (i.e. new product categories), analyse the potential of new app features and help architect the next generation of our service; you will document key insights on our Business Model Canvass
  • Operations: You will undertake special projects to tighten and streamline the core operations
  • Testing: You will assist the Design Team to develop hypotheses, design experiments and test ideas for new features across user segments
  • Finance and Accounting: You will assist the CFO to develop budgets and forecasts, create financial models and develop funding materials (i.e. refine business plan, pitchdeck)

Duties:

Daily and weekly projects will vary, but may include:

  • Research the business potential for enhanced purchase management features in our app and conduct A/B testing to explore product/market fit
  • Conduct the SWOT analysis, develop the business case and draft the implementation plan for unlocking credit card benefits in the retail and travel verticals
  • Maintain and update the Retailer Price Adjustment Policy Catalogue
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses to support short-term business priorities
  • Create the analyses and management reports to quantify and qualify user activity
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of financial models, accounting systems and books and records (corporate and finance/accounting)
  • Implement customer service software
  • Assist in processing price adjustment claims; develop ways to improve claims success ratio; automate parts of the process including alternative claim paths and natural language processing

Qualifications:

  • Working towards (or have completed within the last three years) a degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting (or a similar degree) with exceptional academic credentials
  • Advanced Bachelors or Masters candidates are highly desirable
  • Experience in building financial models, preparing reports and presentations
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience synthesizing large amounts of data
  • Analytical and problem solving skills to find creative ways to overcome obstacles
  • Nice to have: some experience with basic SQL scripting and PowerBI a plus
  • Nice to have: previous experience working with startups a plus

Job Type : Full-time contract between 3 to 4 months; possibility of extension

Location : Toronto, Canada

Compensation : Paid Internship
