Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Design Department at Tangerine in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the teams business strategies and
objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
Leads, mentors and grow a team of Digital Product Designers and UX writers on agile delivery teams
Conducts weekly design reviews to improve the teams design craft.
Communicates, articulates, negotiates and influences design and business decisions with key stakeholders.
Manages resourcing, hiring and allocation of all product designers on agile delivery teams.
Manages vendor relationships for design tools and services.
Oversees the teams user testing activities and reviews design recommendations.
Participates in the enterprise digital accessibility program.
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education and Other Requirements
10+ years of professional design experience and practice
4+ years in a design leadership role
Solid understanding of product design research and strategy
Real-world human problem-solving portfolio
Strong personal core values and courage to create change
Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure with diverse personalities
Excellent storytelling, influencing skills, rapport building, and feedback communication
Experience at designing lean prototypes and stimuli
Excellent ability to create, sell and execute the strategic value of design
Financial Institution or related experience is a strong asset
