Job Summary
Jack Van Klaveren Limited (JVK) is a National Wholesale Distribution company servicing the greenhouse industry. JVK is seeking an experienced General Accountant to oversee the day to day operations of the accounting department. The General Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting team to ensure that the work is done in an accurate and timely manner. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position. The General Accountant will have contact with customers and will work with all levels of the Organization, requiring strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervision of all accounting functions
- Maintain general ledger accounts and assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements, including monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries
- Review and process payroll
- Preparation and reconciliation of government remittances (i.e. HST, EHT, WSIB, Source Deductions)
- Review and approval of customer credit accounts
Qualifications and Skills
- University degree in accounting, business administration or a related field is required
- 3 or more years of supervisory experience, preferably in financial reporting field
- Detail oriented with strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
