Scope Statement
The IT Auditor II conducts audits of existing and proposed computer systems. The incumbent is guided by defined goals and objectives and works under the moderate supervision of the Manager, Audit, in support of all business units.
Impact Statement
Ensures compliance with established procedures and internal controls by testing key control points
Identifies control weaknesses and inefficiencies and recommends practical solutions and improvements
Produces high quality reports on a timely basis for Corporate Audit Management and Senior Management
Responsibilities include
Investigate irregularities and recommends corrective measures
Prepare audit reports and recommendations for review by Manager, Audit
Determine the nature and extent of auditing required
Adjust or extend audit programs where necessary and review and analyze effectiveness
Provide assistance to internal and external auditors with data interrogation and computer assisted sampling procedures
Conduct audits of data processing operations
Review adequacy of proposed controls of new systems
Identify opportunities to improve economy, efficiency and effectiveness of business processes
Document work performed in a clear and concise manner
Conduct research to ensure Empire Life is current with emerging audit, internal control and risk themes
May work on projects and conduct special investigations
Knowledge / Experience / Certification
3-5 years work experience in auditing
Knowledge of information systems technology
Knowledge of internal control techniques and internal audit procedures
Knowledge of contract interpretation
CISA designation preferred
Experience with CAAT’s (Computer Assisted Auditing Techniques) is required
Education / Professional Courses
Completion of a university degree with courses in audit, financial and managerial accounting
