What is the opportunity?
As the Android Development Lead supporting RBC Capital Digital Channels Development, You will provide development, support, and release activities on strategic initiatives to various business functions within RBC Capital Markets and RBC Investor & Treasury Services. We are looking for a strong Android mobile application developer who is also versed in Node.JS, RESTful Micro Services/API development to grow RBCCM Digital Channels Development team.
What will you do?
As part of Digital Channels Development team, you will be responsible for development, maintenance and support of mobile solutions for various business groups within RBC Capital Markets and RBC Investor & Treasury Services divisions. You will be given great flexibility to bring in ideas and work directly with business stakeholder on delivery of stable, optimized applications to perfectly serve our large user base.
Using various techniques and tools, deliver strategic technical solutions to match business requirements and project life cycle deliverables. Focus on component reusability, data sharing and security while complying with Enterprise standards and processes.
Provide structure to development activities following proper Software Development Life Cycle methodologies; provide accurate cost estimates and work to meet the projected timelines.
Collaborate with QA, Support teams on continuous integration and delivery as well as automated and manual testing to ensure good quality solutions are delivered to our business stakeholders with good adoption metrics.
Experiment with new tools and technologies ensuring our solutions stay relevant in a rapidly changing technology landscape while sharing gained knowledge across teams.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
5 years of Android programming experience including the use of up-to-date/modern paradigms such as MVP, Dagger, RxJava, Kotlin, etc.
Experienced in making apps intuitive with strong attention to UI/UX design and pixel perfect interfaces.
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, Microservices (Node.JS/Express.JS)
Hands on experience with relational databases (MS SQL Server) and exposure to no-SQL data stores: MongoDB, ElasticSearch as well as caching stores (Redis).
Great at working collaboratively across various cross-functional teams. You are highly accountable and take ownership. You care about code quality and delivered technical solution as a whole.
Nice to have:
Hybrid experience with Cordova, Xamarin or React Native/NativeScript
Previous experience in Capital Markets environment
Previous experience in DevOps CI/CD pipeline configuration including publishing applications to Google Play store
Previous experience in fast-paced dynamic environment
