The Audit Department is the 3rd Line of Defense and plays a key role in the internal control system of the Bank. Its mandate is to provide independent and objective assurance over the design and effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate risks and to provide advisory services designed to improve the Bank’s operations.
In this role, you will be working as part of the US AML Audit Team and be responsible for executing Financial Crimes related audits, including AML, Sanctions, Bribery, Fraud and other related audits. You will work with the Senior Manager and Director to execute the audits which assess the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls, adherence to regulatory requirements and Bank policies, and the efficiency and effectiveness of operations of the Financial Crimes Compliance function. You will assist in all aspects of the audit, including the planning, execution, and reporting phases. You will also be involved in internal and external issue validation as well as audit continuous monitoring activities.
Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:
Maintaining a thorough understanding of the business, risks, and processes for assigned areas
Maintaining a thorough understanding of AML and Sanctions laws, regulations, guidance, and regulatory expectations
Executing assigned activities in accordance with department methodology/standards
Providing input on the planning of audits or assigned areas to help ensure the scope and extent of work is in accordance with the approved plan, timing and budget are reasonable, procedures are efficient, appropriate resources are assigned, and the risk is understood
A performance of design and operating effectiveness testing of the internal control framework assoicated with the AML/Sanctions Compliance Programs
Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders including appropriate handling of conflicts and issue resolution
Assisting in the validation of internal and external issues
Presentation of findings to the Senior Manager and Director and assisting in the drafting of audit findings and reports
Ensuring working paper files are documented timely and in accordance with established standards
Attending periodic meetings with AML/Sanctions Compliance/Operations management to understand changes and new business initiatives and review key performance indicators to assess potential impact to the audit plan
Understanding how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Managing the development of staff by providing direction and coaching; impart specialized skills to other auditors through peer discussions and cooperation on integrated audits
Building a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment
Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We’d love to work with you, if you have:
At least 5 years in AML/Sanctions Compliance, Audit, consulting, or Regulatory body
Excellent knowledge of AML and Sanctions laws, regulations, guidance, and regulatory expectations
Knowledge of auditing concepts and techniques utilizing data and technology
Well-developed judgment, management, decision-making and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Expert time management skills with the ability to take on multiple projects at one time
Excellent work paper documentation skills (i.e., thorough/detail-oriented)
The ability to work independently and within a team environment
The ability to be highly proficient in the use of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
