Senior Manager, Trade Data Management, GBM Data Office

In this role as a Senior Manager within Trade Data Managmenet for the Global Banking & Markets Data Office, as you will lead & manage the Trade Data Services team overseeing trade data management and operations analytics on the GBM Data Platform. You will report directly to the Director, GBM Data Services and will be responsible for supporting the Trade Central application as well as the overall management of trade data on the GBM Data Platform and the deployment of data governance and management capabilities. In particular, you will be responsible for leadership and execution of the effective management and governance of trade data on the GBM Data Platform. You will partner with development, support, architecture and source System SMEs from technology and Data Domain Stewards and the Data Office, to support the Trade Data Services team, strategic growth of trade data on the GBM Data Platform, prioritization of initiatives to improve overall data quality.

 

Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:

Building and managing a world class trade data management team supporting GBM, Finance, Treasury, Risk as well as Client Insights and Reporting
Responsibility for business as usual Trade Central support and management of the trade data services team as well as supports Trade Central related projects
Providing coaching of team members for continual improvement and provides mid-year and end of year performance appraisals
Championing a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Promotes trade data governance and management through the lens of the customer
Overseeing and maturing the Operations Analytics team for trade data
Understanding and supporting leading practices related to trade data, data controls, data lineage and data quality. Has extensive experience with global banking and markets with a focus on corporate banking and loans as well as derivatives products
Managing trade data domain relationships, assisting in the development and maturation of the trade data domain and business adoption of data governance activities
Ensuring business stakeholder understanding, alignment and commitment to the objectives of the data office and management program
Understanding trade data business requirements across multiple asset classes and aligns them to the objectives of Trade Central and trade data management
Contributing to the overall data management practice and capabilities relating to data quality, data provisioning, metadata, lineage, reference data, issue management and change management
Supporting critical regulatory initiatives and efforts relating to trade data management
Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of his/her/their respective area, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
Championing a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team
 

Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We’d love to work with you, if you have:

A degree in IT or Business-related discipline preferred
10+ years of experience working with capital markets and/or investment banking products and processes with focus on corporate banking
5+ years managing high-performing teams
5+ years of Data Management related experience (e.g. Data Quality, Metadata, Issue Management, Reference Data, Data Provisioning, etc.)
Knowledge of global financial regulatory environment (preferred)
5+ years of experience in Financial Services
The ability to be an acknowledged expert in data requirements for corporate loans, derivatives, equities and fixed income products sold by Scotiabank GBM
Significant experience with the LoanIQ and CDM data models
A demonstrated ability to manage and inspire teams and deliver results
Extensive experience with capital markets and investment banking products and processes across the front, middle and back offices.
An understanding of key components of modern data platforms including: data controls, data acquisition and ingestion, data processing, data enrichment, data models, data distribution.
Experience with project delivery, project management, business analysis and user acceptance testing
Experience with data governance/data management tools and techniques.
Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, various technologies/platforms, and aligned vendor solutions with enterprise strategic priorities
