Reporting to the Operational Director, Forensic Mental Health and working in cooperation with the inter-professional
clinical team, the Program Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the Forensic Mental Health
unit to ensure the provision of person-centred, evidence-based, recovery focused services.
Degree in a Health Care

Masters’ level or an
equivalent combination
of education and
experience
Current unrestricted
registration with relevant
regulatory College
Minimum of five (5) years
related
supervisory/management
experience in a Health
Care setting, preferably
in the Mental Health
Sector
Experience in dealing
effectively with the
Ontario Review Board
Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Mental Health Act of Ontario, related privacy
legislation, and case-law relating to the creation, interpretation and implementation of the
Criminal Code Dispositions
Strong knowledge of the broader provincial forensic mental health system, its organization, and
the resources associated with the elements of that system
Expert knowledge of mental health clinical services in secure environments, reduction of risk in
mentally disordered offenders, and risk assessment and management in relation to the
population served
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including,
ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with diverse groups of stakeholders; ability to resolve
conflicts
Demonstrated understanding of current and emerging research and best practice in use in the
health care sector in the provision of mental health services
Demonstrated project management experience including effectiveness with concurrently
organizing, planning and coordinating operational initiatives with multiple project activities
Demonstrated effectiveness in budget management and accountability
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence individuals and teams within a large organization and
in the context of major change, toward a vision while maintaining group cohesiveness,
motivation, commitment and effectiveness
Demonstrated ability to establish courses of action for self and others to achieve optimal
outcomes/results
Demonstrated commitment to continued learning and effectiveness in promoting the value of
learning and acquiring new information and skills to staff
Demonstrated effectiveness with managing and mentoring staff to achieve desired performance
outcomes
