The Team:

 

The IBS Insurance Technology team is a high performing team responsible for developing solutions to meet the needs of our business partners, leading several large exciting initiatives to drive change across the global technology organization in support of the Bank’s strategic objectives.

The Role:

 

In this role, you will apply your leadership and technical skills, deep knowledge and experience to implement the technology strategy and execution of business initiatives. This role will give you an opportunity to work closely with business partners, technology areas, third party vendors and other stakeholders to lead the end-to-end delivery of critical technology transformations and accelerate value capture.

 

Is this role right for you?

•    Manage the team (direct and indirect reports) in area of project scheduling, technical direction, future planning, budgeting and standard development practices.
•    Ensure proper support procedures and processes are in place to support the various existing production systems. Establish and champion quality improvement activities for the department
•    Negotiate IT project requirements such as scope, schedule, cost, resources, integration, change, quality, etc.
•    Build strong working relationship with peers within business lines and technology partners. 
•    The incumbent is expected to function independently to ensure that the assigned tasks and project objectives are met. Accountable for managing assigned project and department budgets
•    Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner, in compliance with IT Technology Roadmap and has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning,  managing and implementing software projects and programs using Agile Scrum and Kanban framework.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

 

Essential:

•    10+ years of progressive IT experience leading/supervising teams of 10+ members
•    5+ years of experience working with insurance industries 
•    Worked in Agile labs or used Agile Scrum and Kanban framework
•    Strong project management skills, ability to manage concurrent tasks and initiatives. 
•    Requires advanced expertise in complex business/technical processes and their application within the organization
•    Exceptional written and oral communication skills
•    Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching and motivational skills.
•    Vendor management skills, experience in negotiating contractual terms and managing offshore development teams

 

Technical SkillsKnowledge Required

•    Java (including Spring, SpringBoot, JSP, JSF)
•    Javascript, jQuery, html, css
•    SQL (especially T-SQL)
•    Familiarity with microservice architecture and 12-Factor App concepts
•    Familiarity with REST APIs and how they differ from SOAP
•    Familiarity with Design Patterns, and how to apply them
•    if internal: experience with PLATO, BaaS, Accp, CDP would be a big asset
•    Familiarity with AIX, Linux, WebSphere, SQL Server would be an asset
