Senior Financial Analyst

Based at our Head Office in Mississauga, Ontario, and reporting to the CFO based in Vancouver, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for full-cycle accounting (50%), financial reporting and analysis (20%), forecasting (15%), and special projects (15%).

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated, self-starter individual to help create a best-in-class finance department, learn directly from a CFO, and work in one of the most exciting industries in Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full-cycle accounting, including sales orders, invoicing, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, payroll processing, expense reporting, accounts payable, compliance activities (government remittances, records of employment, etc.), account reconciliations, and manual journal entries such as accrual calculations
  • Prepare monthly financials, internal management reports, including working with CFO to develop departmental reports containing financial and non-financial performance summaries
  • Liase with external accounting firm for tax compliance and preparation of annual financial statements
  • Assist CFO in budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Contribute to special projects, including implementation of new, cloud-based ERP solution, and transitioning payroll processing to third-party service provider
  • Develop, document, and implement internal processes and policies to ensure appropriate financial controls throughout the organization

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • 3-5 years of experience, either as a financial analyst/senior financial analyst working in industry, or “Big 4” public accounting experience
  • CPA accounting designation
  • Strong accounting knowledge and reporting related to standards, financial processes, and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, while also being able to step back and understand the bigger picture
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently within tight timelines
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing company, with the ability to create structure by recommending and implementing new processes/best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including communicating with departmental Vice Presidents, and remote employees
  • Naturally curious with a willingness to challenge assumptions/status quo, and promote a culture of change
  • Experience with Sage Intaact would be considered an asset
  • IT knowledge would be considered an asset, specifically related to APIs and integration between multiple cloud-based software solutions
