Software Developer II

JOB SUMMARY

The Software Developer II is responsible for assisting in the design, development and maintenance of the next generation, multi-physics coupling engine and other software components in the ANSYS portfolio. This developer can expect to be engaged in all stages of code and capability planning, creation and evolution, and to work closely with other groups as they adopt the coupling infrastructure. Emphasis is on planning and executing work at the iteration (approximately monthly) time scale.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with other development, documentation and testing professionals in planning and executing capabilities related to coupling system-level codes with 3D fluids, structures and electromagnetics codes * Assist in design and development of state-of-the-art coupling/mapping engine used to couple 0D, 1D, 2D and 3D participants in multi-physics simulations * Coordinate with and support other product creation teams and customer support representatives involved in multi-physics, coupling applications * Work efficiently in complex mixed language code base, written in Python and C++, on Windows and Linux * Collaboratively diagnose and resolve defects related to coupled analyses * Contribute to the software development lifecycle by planning and completing tasks within the team’s test-driven iterative/incremental, and broader agile practices.

JOB MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline * Minimum of 5 years commercial software development experience * Solid, demonstrable experience with Python and/or C++

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline preferred * Code-level experience with integrating system-level (0D/1D) simulation codes with CFD and FEA (2D/3D) codes is a strong plus * Code-level experience with computer-aided design & engineering concepts is a strong plus
