II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The candidate will work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of
factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance; the
Supervisor, Financial Reporting & Analysis is responsible for supervising and partaking in the financial planning,
budgeting and management reporting process for the Utilities Group. He/she will plan and develop systems and
procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department. The incumbent must understand,
administer, and articulate all accounting policies and procedures required for internal management and external
reporting.
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Budgeting, Analysis & Reporting:
• Aids in key aspects of the financial budgeting process, ensuring efficient consolidation of the annualbudgets
and quarterly revision;
• Reviews the budgets for various business units, as well as functional departments, challengesassumptions,
volumes and rates to ensure accuracy of budgets;
• Guides in preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, understanding and partnering with the
business unit managers by providing insightful information and analysis to support business decisionmaking;
• Ensures that all general ledger reconciliations are properly prepared and reviewed in a timelymanner;
• Assists timely month-end close processes; including the production of accurate consolidatedfinancial
statements;
• Proactively analyzes business performance and key performance metrics to provide analytical, strategic and
financial support to the senior managementteam;
• Assists with reporting requirements to meet customer needs.
Process and Financial Review:
• Monitors and reviews the Accounts Receivable, Payable, Payroll and General Accounting Functions for the
Utilities Group;
• Evaluates and improves financial control processes, drives consistent process standardization andfinancial
management across the businesses to ensure efficiencies and cost reductions;
• Assists the Senior Management Team in developing and tracking key performance indicators toensure
compliance with corporate financial strategies and contractual requirements;

 

Leadership:
• Supervise, organizes and oversees the work of the Financial Reporting team;
• Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitmentto
quality and time;
• Monitors performance and development goals for staff, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives,establishes
priorities, and conducts annual performance reviews;
• Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughoutthe
organization, creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment;
• Other duties as assigned.
IV. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & TRAINING NEEDS
• Completion of a post-secondary degree and Professional Accounting Designation (CPA -CA, CMA, or CGA);
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of post-qualification related experience, ideally in the construction industry;
• External reporting experience including the preparation of quarterly/annualdocuments;
• Experience developing annual budgets aligned with operating and strategic plans;
• Strong knowledge of IFRS including technical accounting and reportingrequirements;
• Demonstrated leadership skills including excellent communication, interpersonal and relationshipbuilding
skills;
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office and experience with SAP and Business Intelligence reportingsystems;
• Ability to motivate others to achieve established goals of the department and the organization;
• Demonstrated analytical, organizational and multi-tasking skills, including ability to effectively meet all
deadlines in a fast pace environment.
