The Analyst, Corporate Sustainability supports the delivery of Scotiabanks environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures. Contributes to the success of the Corporate Sustainability team globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of Scotiabanks related strategies and objectives.
Accountabilities
Support the execution of Scotiabanks ESG disclosure framework to meet regulatory and voluntary requirements including for the annual Public Accountability Statement and the Banks ESG Report.
Work with the Senior Manager, Corporate Sustainability (Reporting) to develop and enhance Scotiabanks ESG disclosures and longer-term ESG reporting strategy.
Conduct detailed best practice research and benchmarking on various environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues and trends to inform continuous improvement in sustainability reporting.
Develop a strong working knowledge of sustainability standards and frameworks (e.g. SASB, TCFD, GRI, SDGs, UNGC, ESG rating frameworks etc.) and contribute recommendations to strengthen alignment and transparency.
Project manage the annual Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) survey completion.
Coordinate and act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders for ESG data collection processes.
Help to maintain meticulous documentation and organization of sustainability data and stakeholder correspondence, including to satisfy audit requirements.
Prepare briefs, presentations and conduct various analyses to support internal communication and awareness-building on the Banks strengths and opportunities related to ESG and sustainability.
Keep abreast of corporate best practice in sustainability, maintain a network of peers both inside and outside the bank to keep informed of best practices and latest trends, news, etc.
Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen internal client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge, and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Qualifications
Support the Corporate Sustainability team within Global Communications and Social Enterprise
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proficiency in Spanish and French viewed as an asset
Minimum undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification in sustainability or related field
1-3 years of experience in a sustainability-related field is an asset
Demonstrates a passion for sustainability
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Solid interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Awareness of external sustainability standards and frameworks, including but not limited to GRI, DJSI, SASB, TCFD, UNGC and SDGs
Detail oriented and analytically inclined; comfortable working with and analyzing quantitative data
Ability to handle multiple tasks, change priorities, and keep up with a continually evolving environment
