Purpose
Scotiabanks Global Compliance is seeking Business Data Analytics Lead to join our Data & Analytics team. We are building a leading, best-in-class Global Compliance function to maintain customer trust and protect the Banks reputation.
The incumbent contributes to the overall success of Global Compliance by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the teams business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
Partner with various leaders in compliance to identify areas where advanced analytics can be applied to address internal audit, external regulatory findings and critical gaps identified through 3rd party reviews and to develop solutions required
Raise awareness in Global Compliance on the application of advanced analytics and enhance adoption of insights-driven solutions for planning and issue management
Focused culture throughout the analytics team to deepen insights and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge to add value to internal compliance stakeholders, including all 3 lines of defence
Act as a trusted advisor and partner, providing strategic direction and oversight for the development, prioritization, and implementation of advanced analytics models and use cases across each respective business lines
Work with the business to identify new kinds, types and sources of data and applications for analytics to address critical gaps in compliance capabilities and define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.
Understands how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Plans and facilitate discussions with business clients to gather business, data source requirements and to present findings and results of analytics solutions
Develops and delivers process documentation that reflects current business processes, data sources and future state requirements
Participates in all aspects of an Agile systems development life cycle
Ensures compliance with all applicable data regulations and policies
Applies best practices for effective communication, relationship management and problem-solving with stakeholders/partners
Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure
Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. Education/Experience:
Masters / advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, MBA, FSA, or a PhD
Proven expert in analytics, data management and performance measurement
Recognized and resilient team leader who inspires a results-oriented culture
Exceptional business planning, strategy development and execution skills
Proven relationship management skills with demonstrated seamless collaboration across multiple stakeholders
Experience in leading teams and working with multiple stakeholders
Strong collaborative & consultative skills
Strong data set preparation and creation skills
Advanced statistical skills including working knowledge of text analytics (NLP), structural equation modeling, factor analysis, unsupervised / supervised learning, etc.
Advanced skills in analytics execution (e.g., R, Python, Spark)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain data and findings to a non-technical and executive audience
Ability to multitask and manage multiple research projects
Demonstrated strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking
