The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) Technology Operations & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is responsible for the operations engineering required to provide highly available and resilient systems.  In GTS Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) & Reference Data Management (RDM) TechOps & SRE, we are responsible for providing critical data platform services, following SRE and data governance best practices, as well as consulting and coordinating with the Bank’s technology teams to meet business expectations.

 

The role:

You will contribute to the growth and delivery of EDW & RDM SRE services by integrating security into all aspects of development and operations ensuring the security through data loss prevention controls, monitoring and remediation, and the use of security tools to identify areas of improvement and prevent problem recurrence.
You will partner with the Product Owner, development teams, and the Security Advisor to deliver a high-quality product by integrating security into the full development lifecycle and creating security artifacts using best practices within the Bank’s Security Standards and SRE framework.
You will identify opportunities to improve data security recommending and implementing solutions that ensure data protection, least privilege access, traceability, and monitoring.
You will identify opportunities for quality improvements recommending and implementing automation to prevent vulnerabilities, problem recurrence, and reduce deployment times.
You will continuously improve service monitoring including privileged access, security scans, access and event monitoring, and data usage.
You will implement, measure, and gather insights from key Operational Level Indicators identifying areas for service improvements related to security.
You will create and maintain security artifacts working with ensuring all findings are tracked and scheduled for remediation.
You will provide after hours support as required.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

You have strong communication (verbal/written) and good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
You can demonstrate you are a strong team player with a proven ability to collaborate on solution designs, development, and testing.
You have at least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience do you have as a Software Engineer in an Engineering or Operations environment that supports a complex Data Warehouse.
You have at least 3+years of hands-on technical working experience in creating and maintaining application security artifacts.
You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience in designing solutions or authoring technical specifications for the security components of a solution.
You have at least 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience in investigating and remediating hardening and vulnerability findings.
You can demonstrate solid technical knowledge on and experience in application, code, data, and access event security.
You can demonstrate experience in implementing, monitoring, and reporting on security standard compliance.
You have a broad understanding of and experience with firewalls, network, secure transfer protocols, and cryptographic standards.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills, prefer to identify and resolve issues before they become a problem, and can work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
You can demonstrate the ability to lead complex incidents that cross application and technology boundaries.
You have completed a post-secondary education in computer science, engineering or in a related technology field.
