Purpose
Scotiabanks Compliance Transformation Program (CT) is seeking a Director Change Management to join our team. We are building a leading, best-in-class Global Compliance function to: maintain customer trust, deliver efficiencies across business units, and to be trusted advisors and partners to protect the Banks reputation.
The CT Program is a significant investment for Scotiabank that brings together transformational, operational and IT change activities facilitated by the Program Management Office (PMO) to enhance compliance functions across multiple geographies and business lines to support compliance personnel globally.
The mandate for the CT Program is to design and implement required current & target state compliance capabilities to enhance the Compliance function and mitigate risk supporting the Chief Compliance and Regulatory Officers (CCRO) vision of an integrated compliance function, supporting the business in delivering growth as well as supporting Scotiabank to deliver on its Compliance obligations in the most efficient and effective way.
Scotiabank is seeking a senior Change Management specialist to join the Global Risk Management team. We are building a leading, best-in-class Global Risk Management and Compliance functions to: maintain customer trust, deliver efficiencies across business units, and be trusted advisors and partners to protect the Banks reputation.
The GRM Program Management Office (PMO) brings together the transformational and business change activities across multiple geographies and business lines. We help assess capabilities for the current and future needs of Scotiabank and deliver business transformation in support of the banks growth objectives as well as to meet our Risk and Compliance obligations in the most efficient and effective way.
This role will provide an incredible opportunity to have a significant impact and to build relationships with key decision makers across the Bank through a high degree of exposure to our GRM executive leadership teams.
Role
The incumbent will support the GRM senior leadership team by leading the Change Management function and being responsible for developing, planning and executing the change management activities, communications and training. The role has been created to ensure that the senior and executive leadership team, people managers, and employees at all levels are properly equipped to initiate, sustain changes, and feel empowered to achieve corporate vision objectives. In addition, the incumbent will partner with key stakeholders to guide processes, organizational structure, communications infrastructure, culture and standards.
Accountabilities
Ensure that the Banks leadership teams understand the cultural, organizational and human resource issues that are arising as a result of the various Global Risk and Compliance initiatives and project streams by:
Assisting them in understanding their role in the change process
Building commitment and ownership for driving the changes
Coaching leaders and key stakeholders to lead and champion change within their teams, cascade key messages to ensure the imperative for change is well understood, and role model expected behaviours to create and sustain momentum
Identifying barriers to implementation that may arise and develop mitigating solutions
Engaging leaders in the communication process, to deliver key messages throughout all stages of various initiatives
Lead and develop organizational readiness plans and change strategies by:
Understanding the remediation and optimization priorities and the impact on the business and employees
Providing functional expertise with organizational readiness.
Developing Program Change Management strategy, including individual project change strategies, as appropriate
Developing and implementing a Change Management plan that addresses the change impacts of the program, while minimizing stakeholder resistance and maximizing engagement
Equipping stakeholders with the knowledge, skills, and tools to prepare them for change
Assessing the organizations readiness for change, potential barriers to implementing change and providing mitigation solutions
Playing a key role in overseeing Human Resources (HR) strategies to motivate and retain employees in GRM and other impacted groups during a time of dynamic change
Determining change programs required for executive leadership team, managers and employees, and working with HR partners and external providers, as necessary
Creating tools for managers and employees for implementing sustainable change
Ensuring effective delivery of change management strategy program(s) and tools
Developing and executing change management measurement strategy and learning initiatives related to the programs; assessing the effectiveness of current applicable areas change & learning processes; identifying strengths and opportunities for enhancement
3. Support the key GRM stakeholders to meet business objectives, focusing on the people side of change by:
Understanding the people impacts as a result of changes to applicable processes, technology, job roles, culture, and organization structure
Preparing employees for the changes through the use of engagement, communications, and training activities
Promoting knowledge sharing across the applicable areas and other stakeholder groups
Working with the key stakeholders to realize program objectives and benefits
Working with HR Training to conduct a skills gap analysis and plan training based on new and /or redefined job roles 4. Lead the development and execution of integrated communication strategies, plans and activities that align messages and programs and support the successful implementation of initiatives by:
Identifying communication needs and developing appropriate communication strategies and plans to assist senior management team to foster a broader understanding of initiatives and programs across lines of business and geographies
Identifying, planning and executing communication initiatives that enhance and improve communication with key stakeholders and businesses
Developing communication plans, tactics and messaging to align with applicable programs and priorities and build employee engagement in the various initiatives
Ensuring that communication messaging across applicable stakeholders is coordinated, reflects the diverse needs of the target audiences and is consistent with Scotiabanks positioning, goals and values
Engaging leaders in communication activities
Ensuring that programs are well communicated and understood at all stages, and that messages are communicated consistently across Global Compliance and other stakeholders
Overseeing the creation of communications designed to highlight short-term, visible and meaningful wins, to sustain momentum of on-going programs
Providing support and advice to program stakeholders on communication strategies and plans
Developing and executing measurement strategies for communication initiatives; assessing the effectiveness of current communication processes; identifying strengths and opportunities for change and enhancement
Regular quarterly reviews on strategy and execution plans with the management team
Execute on Communication strategy and plans.
Education / Experience / Other Information
Minimum 7-10 years of experience with a proven track record of success leading large-scale program/projects. Experience in a financial services (FS) institution is preferred.
Excellent business/technical written and oral communication/presentation skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in order to effectively solve problems in a dynamic and demanding environment
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including but not limited to: presentation, prioritization, effective time management, conflict management. Proven experience leading teams and ability to align stakeholders and communicate with all levels of the organization
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are essential in dealing with many senior internal and external parties, as well as preparing program updates for Executive Management
Confident presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with senior management at all levels
Post-secondary graduate of Organizational Development, Social Sciences, or equivalent experience
Willing and able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or Change Management Professional designation (e.g., Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP)) considered an asset.
