The Director of the HR Project Management Office (PMO) oversees HR’s portfolio of projects to ensure their successful delivery and works to embed project management disciplines across the function. This includes prioritizing, resourcing, removing obstacles, escalating issues, interacting with a range of internal stakeholders (including senior leadership), implementing PMO practices/tools, and leading a small, nimble team of project management professionals. The position currently works remotely due to COVID, but will be based in our Toronto office when onsite working resumes.

 

Accountabilities

 

Ensure the successful delivery of HR projects aligned with the enterprise project governance framework.
Identify, monitor, manage and communicate cross-project dependencies, issues, risks and constraints, escalating when necessary. Draw on experience to anticipate risk and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and plans.
Prepare executive reports/presentations and chair the monthly HR Project Steering Committee
Implement and evolve practices and tools to ensure that project stakeholders have the necessary information to make informed and timely decisions, and that knowledge is shared across projects and teams
Manage project intake, resourcing and capacity planning for the PMO
May manage or participate in management of the largest/most complex projects that require additional oversight and delivery expertise
Facilitate the ongoing implementation, awareness and enhancement of project management practices, tools and standards to embed project management disciplines across the function
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Bank’s Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
 

Requirements/Experience

 

Certification in project management (PMP) and 10+ years project management experience
Experience delivering complex programs on a global basis, from initiation to delivery and sustainment, including business case development
Proven success in leading high-performing teams, motivating others to perform at their best and building relationships with diverse stakeholders
Resilient and adaptive to evolving business needs
Highly motivated and results oriented, with ability to operate independently
Excellent verbal and written communication, listening, facilitation and presentation skills to work collaboratively with other team members, across teams and with different business groups
Must be proactive, curious and a critical thinker to anticipate and solve problems
Strong knowledge of the Bank or FIs is preferred, with experience in global, complex organizations
HR experience an asset
