Purpose

 

Scotiabank’s Compliance Transformation Program (CT) is seeking a Director, Program Management to join our Program Management Office (PMO) team. We are continuing to build a leading, best-in-class Global Compliance function to maintain customer trust, deliver efficiencies across business units, and be trusted advisors and partners to protect the Bank’s reputation. The Compliance Transformation Program is a significant multi-year investment for Scotiabank and the PMO brings together all the transformational, operational and IT change activities across multiple geographies and business lines and will support the Compliance function globally.  The key objective of the program is to strengthen the effectiveness of the Compliance program through sustainable processes and technology to ensure compliance with OSFI E-13.

 

Accountabilities

 

Directs multiple large scale and complex projects within the Compliance Transformation Program, involving multiple enterprise-wide stakeholders and matrix governance.
Supports the portfolio management and program/project prioritization activities with VP Program Management.
Provides program and project management subject matter expertise for the program.
Manages all aspects of the project lifecycle and works with matrix partners e.g. GRM PMO, EPMO, CPMO to oversee all phases of a project.
Manages scope rigorously to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed-on time, cost, and quality parameters.
Creates and maintains project documentation including project charter, resource plan, milestones, measures of success and transition plan into sustainment.
Develops project estimates and plans to manage end-to-end project execution.
Monitors project milestones, financial delivery, resource availability, issue management process and resolution.
Articulates business outcomes, including business and technology costs, risks and benefits, dependencies and resources.
Chairs working meetings and represents the project in governance committees as required.
Ensures alignment to Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF).
Ensures stakeholders requirements are captured accurately and completely.
Builds and leads effective project teams, ensuring the right skills set balance between risk knowledge and project management experience.
Ensures proper project closure including documentation of lessons learned and transition into sustainment.
Defines principles and standards to harmonize project management methodologies from third party or external service providers.
 

Education / Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Financial Services experience.
PMP/PMI certification required.
10+ years of program and project management experience supporting large scale and complex transformational program/projects.
Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects.
Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting.
Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools.
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Sound business and technical acumen.
Experience in Compliance and/or regulatory programs is an asset.
Experience with stakeholder management.
Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbally.
Strong presentation skills.
Team leadership and people management experience.
