Manager, Corporate and Commercial Automotive Credit, Global Risk Management

 

The Manager, by means of sound credit judgement, contributes to the maintenance, growth and safety of a loan portfolio comprising Commercial and Corporate accounts within the Automotive segment, by ensuring that the portfolio is maintained in sound condition within the Bank’s current credit policy and that supporting documentation provides adequate protection.

 

What you’ll do in this role?

Reporting to the Director while operating in a team-based environment, you will adjudicate credit proposals from Canadian Commercial Automotive Finance and Corporate Automotive clients, while ensuring that these accounts are managed within the Bank’s risk tolerance and in compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
Contribute to the quality of the loan portfolio by:
Providing prompt and sound decision-making via analysis and adjudication of credit proposals within assigned limits (conforming to Bank Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines).
Making credit recommendations for sign-off from the appropriate adjudication levels.
Providing recommendations to improve the structure of marginal proposals into bankable deals, as appropriate.
Improving the quality of credit applications and submissions.
Ensuring the accuracy of data in various databases and reports.
Ensuring that all terms and conditions of authorizations are accurate, and that the Bank’s position is fully protected by way of adequate security requirements and appropriate credit conditions.
Monitoring the timely submission of all applications and quality of accounts.
Monitoring portfolio/industry trends and recommending suitable courses of action.
Following up for submission of reporting, in accordance with established requirements.

Help develop credit competencies of Banking partners by providing appropriate and meaningful constructive feedback.
Ensure turnaround time continues to meet the Department’s best practices and the Bank’s guidelines.
Maintain an active participation in various Banking and Global Risk Management value-added initiatives from time to time (in addition to routine credit-related matters).
Be customer-focused and proactive, while maintaining a healthy partnership with business line counterparts.
 

What we’re looking for?

MBA and/or Finance-related professional designations (e.g. CPA, CFA, etc) are preferred.
Knowledge of credit analysis in Corporate and/or Commercial Banking or Credit roles, including but not limited to: understanding of credit structures and protections, credit documentation, and financial projections.
Curiosity, ability to learn and to apply newly acquired knowledge to daily tasks.
Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple (often shifting) priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Sound oral and written communication skills to elaborate and support credit decisions before internal stakeholders (e.g. Global Risk Management and Banking counterparts).
Superior negotiation and problem-resolution skills to reach agreements with business line partners.
