Manager, Pricing Analytics – Canadian Business Banking 

 

Purpose

This role support the overall success of Pricing Analytics in Canadian Business Banking by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives while ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

You will support the development and ongoing maintenance of Pricing Analytics capabilities to support the Canadian Business Bank’s Pricing Platform – Precision Lender as well as the Pricing roadmap. 

Led by Senior Manager, Pricing Analytics, you will analyze key performance indicators and support the implementation of pricing and revenue enhancement strategies. You will exhibit a high degree of flexibility and have the ability to effectively manage numerous competing priorities.
 

Accountabilities:

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
•    Support development of and maintain robust pricing strategies and models

o    Acts as a subject matter expert on current pricing platform, pricing strategy and policy
o    Support ongoing optimization of the pricing platform, pricing strategy and policy 
o    Supports the Pricing team in owning Business Banking pricing model components that impact return such as capital, risk, collateral, customer segment, cost methodology and funds transfer pricing (FTP), ensuring their methodology is up to date
o    Support the performance monitoring of pricing recommendation models; Support model recalibration and enhancement through data preparation, feature engineering and model building
o    Lead the validation of model form and elasticity curve parameters against business knowledge through scenario testing
o    Responsible for implementing test and learn approach to enhance pricing effectiveness and revenue generation, such as trade-off analysis for pricing scenarios, post-implementation measurement of pricing strategies, and analytics-driven pricing tactics

•    Develop and perform analytical techniques to support Business Banking pricing decision-making

o    Develop codes to combine and prepare pricing-related data sourced from pricing platform (PrecisionLender) and other Databases
o    Perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement to pricing and valuation methodologies
o    Clearly understand factors impacting Business Banking pricing models (products, credit structure, relevant pricing parameters, funding curves etc.), perform and review optimization scenarios to support changes to customer segment level pricing strategies
 

•    Develop and maintain pricing KPI reporting and analysis:

o    Lead the development of reports and dashboards to track pricing performance KPIs, including but not limited to profitability, pricing realization, win/loss ratio, competitive pricing, across different products, lines of business, pricing segments, and geological locations
o    Develop codes to automate reporting and reduce manual processes
o    Ensure analysis and reports are produced in a timely fashion with high degree of accuracy
o    Support the development of required tools to improve the efficiency and user experience of pricing reports

•    Collaborate with key stakeholder relationships in support of pricing initiatives

o    Works collaboratively with key stakeholders including Analytics, Data Engineering, Client Measurement, Treasury and Salesforce to understand data infrastructure and provide feedback for improvement

o    Work with technology and other relevant stakeholders to support data infrastructure development, such as validating data quality and testing data linkage
o    Contribute to delivering excellent user experience, such as supporting product owners with training, supporting user requests/escalations etc.
o    Proactively support various pricing stakeholders on initiatives and ad-hoc analysis

 

•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

Educational Requirements:

–    Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science or related field or relevant experience 
–    Master’s degree in Statistics/Computer Science/Analytics a plus

 

Experience:

–    Minimum of 2+ years of analytics experience
–    Excellent analytical skills. Must be able to source, manipulate and interpret data, perform analysis and make informed recommendations. Experience in building statistical models is a plus. Detailed experience in the following: SQL, SAS, Python, Unix, other programming tools
–    Experience with large data sets. Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI
–    Working knowledge of banking products, especially pricing methodological knowledge such as customer value and price elasticity a plus but not essential
–    Enjoy discovering and learning new technologies

 

Skills:
–    Familiarity with analytic processes and data-based decision making, including statistical modeling
–    Strong technical skills in Math, Computer Science or related fields
–    Attention to detail and drive to deliver on time are required
–    Excellent prioritizing, presentation, and communication skills would be a plus
