Manager, Pricing Strategy and Platform, Canadian Business Banking

Purpose

This role contributes to the overall success of Pricing in Canadian Business Banking ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Manager, Pricing Strategy and Platform will support the Senior Product Owner, Pricing Strategy and Platform in leading the pricing modernization initiative for the Canadian Business Bank. The Manager, Pricing Strategy & Platform will be primarily responsible for expanding platform capabilities and skills, adoption, and managing day-to-day activities of building better pricing discipline.  In collaboration with key stakeholders, this role will support the pricing strategy with a goal to increase revenue, optimize NIR, increase market share and profitability.

Accountabilities:

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

•    Pricing Platform Modernization

o    Support the pricing modernization strategy for Commercial Banking by ensuring the successful adoption of the new pricing and relationship management platform – Precision Lender.
o    Execute the product development roadmap to ensure that the platform is integrated through key touchpoints of the credit flow.
o    Support the change management strategy to transition Commercial banking from product specific pricing to relationship pricing. 

 

•    Pricing Platform Management

o    Serve as a highly visible subject matter expert in pricing.
o    Lead execution of platform configurations; Responsible for maintaining pricing platform configurations in PrecisionLender and testing the pricing model to ensure quality and accuracy of results.
o    Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand user needs and contribute in delivering creative solutions to solve complex problems
o    Prioritize user stories and requirements to best achieve business goals, track product development and delivery schedules.
o    Create and maintain product related documentations and building toolkits, job aids on pricing best practices and training materials
o    Coordinate with vendor relationship management, provide input to budget management 

 

•    Drive Excellent User Experience

o    Responsible for holding field training sessions on PrecisionLender and pricing effectiveness 
o    Support answering user queries, user management and escalations 
o    Contribute to self-learning materials on pricing effectiveness and creating continuous learning programs 

 

•    Execute on Pricing Strategy and Roadmap

o    Consult and solicit feedback from Group leads and RMs to ensure pricing strategy is align to business objectives 
o    Perform profitability analysis, competitive evaluation and financial risk assessment to ensure pricing is competitive.
o    Perform continuous testing and learn approach to enhance pricing effectiveness and revenue generation

 

•    Manage key stakeholder relationships in Credit Solutions, Analytics, Client Measurement and Finance

•    Works collaboratively with members of the Commercial Analytics and Finance, Credit Solutions, Client Measurement, Global Business Payment (GBP) and Global Banking and Markets (GBM) to ensure the pricing platform is aligned to the strategic growth of core partnerships

•    Work with technology and other relevant stakeholders to ensure data infrastructure developed is consistent with the overall technology/data vision for the bank

 

•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Key point of contact for Client Measurement, Client Profitability Model (CPM) team and Credit Solutions. 

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

Educational Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or relevant work experience 
•    MBA or Masters in Finance, Analytics

 

Experience:

•    3+ years of experience as a business analyst or product management. Preferably in financial services. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in commercial or corporate banking and/or experience in pricing.

Enjoy discovering and learning new technologies:    
•    Experience with financial analysis, treasury and capital ratio functions
•    Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI

Skills:
•    You have a curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty 
•    Your verbal and written communication skills are exceptional, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at different levels in the organizations

Strong prioritizing, analytical, presentation, project management and planning skills
Effective strategic thinking, organizational know-how and influencing skills are critical for success
•    High degree of knowledge of commercial products and profit drivers 
•    Strong technical skills in Math, Computer Science or related fields
•    Excellent design and delivery capabilities
