Manager ABAC Program, Global Compliance

Purpose

 

Contributes to the overall success of Scotiabank’s Enterprise Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption (“ABAC”) Program ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

 

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen internal client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Supports the enhancement of the ABAC Program with a focus on:
Collecting and providing analysis of data and metrics to identify trends, communicate findings, and feed continuous improvement and support the reporting on the status, issues, initiatives, findings, etc.
Assist with the identification of ABAC insights, development of the training and communication plans to increase employee comprehension and awareness, development and update of framework/policy/procedural documents.
Undertake other ABAC projects and initiatives, as directed by the Director, ABAC.
Responsible for the Related Party and s.157 reporting packages for the Board and providing advisory services by researching and preparing responses to enquiries, information requests and/or audit/regulatory requests related to Related Party transactions and s.157
Assists in organizing and leading periodic committee meetings (including developing agenda, preparing materials, tracking action items, etc.) and other relevant committees as needed
Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and Risk Culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Provide analysis & report on Enterprise Risk Culture & Conduct Risk related issues, and leveraging the data from Global Issue Management System to provide insights and help business line to identify, mitigate and monitor risks and for actively implementing effective internal controls in place.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework. Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Scotiabank Code of Conduct.

Education/ Experience

 

Post-Secondary education and/or at least 3 years of related experience in the financial services industry, preferably within a risk management and/or compliance function.
Ability to operate in a high performing, flexible and small team environment.
Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
Experience in managing several ongoing assignments and competing priorities concurrently.
Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, and results oriented and driven individual.
Good judgment and exceptional attention to detail.
Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Strong administrative, organizational and good project management skills to ensure proper maintenance of compliance documentation and working files; and
Knowledgeable about Scotiabank organizational structure, risk management and/or compliance, operational procedures, and generally understand the business activities, products and services offered by the business units would be an asset.
