The Principle, Engineering & Architecture, Global Wealth Technology will be responsible for the Functional and Technical Architectural direction of Global Wealth Technology. In addition, you will be responsible for continuous improvement in our Engineering capability and for improving the quality of the solutions that we deliver as a department through your technical leadership. In this role, you will lead a team of solutions architects and engineers that will provide the department with technical direction.

 

You will be responsible for the management and development of core technical assets, including the DevOps toolchain, common technical solutions and libraries. You will provide input into bank-wide efforts to develop common technical solutions. You will perform a leadership role in the adaption of new technology, including but not limited to the use of Public Cloud, leveraging of Data Analytics, AI/ML and BlockChain technologies. You will be closely involved in the analysis and approval for use of new technologies and third party application solutions.

 

You will be responsible for the architectural and technical signoff of the conceptual approach and implementation of all significant department software development projects. You will build an advanced engineering team for the purposes of developing common components, developing technical standards, upskilling the department and providing assistance for key projects.

 

You will be a key member of the Global Wealth Technology management team.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

You will lead & oversee the Global Engineering & Architecture function within GWT
Continuous improvement of the department’s Engineering capability
Provide Technical Leadership to the department
Manage a team of solutions architects and software engineers
Responsible for operation and development of core technical assets
Responsible for architectural and technical signoff of the approach and implementation of all significant department deliverables.
Responsible for building common components to be leveraged across the department
Responsible for the technical upskilling of the department
Key member of the Global Wealth Technology management team
 

Education / Experience

A BSc on Computer Science or equivalent.  MSc or PhD an advantage
Proven track record of technical leadership.
Software Development background, with a minimum of 10 years coding experience in a modern OO development language
Team management experience with at least 3 years at Senior Manager / Director level.
Experience working with large-scale distributed systems
Advanced understanding of SOA or microservices architecture
Understanding of data structures, algorithms, best practices
Deep understanding of containerization using Docker or similar
Experience working in an Agile environment
Spanish language skills an asset
