The Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR) group is part of the Chief Accountant’s department within the Finance Division. This position involves preparing financial reports of the Bank’s results for the Bank shareholders and general public.
The Analyst is responsible for assisting with the public reporting of the Bank’s results including assisting with the production of the Quarterly and Annual Report to Shareholders, calculation of the Banks corporate tax provision and various internal management reports. As a result, the incumbent will obtain a unique overview of the Bank’s operations.
Key Accountabilities:
Assist with preparation of the Banks quarterly and annual shareholder reports, which will include preparation of the statement of cash flows and certain MD&A disclosures and financial statement notes.
Compilation of the Banks monthly tax provision package, which includes the calculation of the Banks corporate tax provision, the effective tax rates of the Bank and its subsidiaries and processing of required journal entries.
Calculation and analysis of financial statement ratios.
Benchmarking and analysis of financial statement disclosures against industry peers and updates of disclosure checklists issued by various regulatory authorities.
Roll-forward and update of quarterly and annual reports in the disclosure management system.
Preparation of ad hoc financial reports/analysis as requested by senior management.
Experience / Education:
Post secondary education in business, finance or accounting.
CPA designation (or working towards the same) would be an asset.
Strong Excel skills, including experience with the development of macros, is desirable.
Familiarity with Peoplesoft EGL and OBI, including the Smartview add-in.
Strong analytical skills.
Must be very well organized; must be accurate yet able to meet tight deadlines.
Must be willing to work overtime during quarter-end periods.
