The Senior API Developer – Node.js, contributes to the overall success of the Scotia Digital in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the teams business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Apply your development experience to deliver microservices in cloud (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)
Mentor and guide team members in technical knowledge with best coding practices.
Assist in developing coding standards and testing approaches
Collaborate with the Architect/Technical Lead to realize technical vision and direction
Trouble shoot technical issues to identify the root cause of the problem
Provide expert advice to key stakeholders
Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?
You have experience with REST API design using Open API Specifications
You have knowledge in Object Oriented and Functional Design
You have experience working with authenticated, customer focused applications
You have experience with at least one NodeJS framework, preferably ExpressJS
You have experience with Javacript/TypeScript development
Youve used modern JS toolsets (ES6+, Webpack, Babel, Jest, Protractor)
You have worked on productionizing NodeJS servers
You stay up to date with industry best practice
Deep knowledge (bordering on obsession) of Agile principles and the flexibility to adapt your experience to new and evolving environments
Passion for driving teams towards high performance and a deep pride in quality craftsmanship that delights users
Excellent communication including the ability to distil technical details into human terms
A passion for well-designed products and youre not afraid to sit with our Design Team and prototype, wireframe and white board your ideas
You have some knowledge for Java/Springboot microservice development
