Purpose
The Vice President, Financial, Accounting & Reporting (the VP), provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for consolidated Bank financial accounting and reporting within Global Finance ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Reporting to the Senior Vice-President & Chief Accountant, the VP will lead a team of 5 Directors.
Accountabilities
Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Financial Accounting and Reporting
Provides stewardship and oversight for consolidated Bank monthly, quarterly and annual statutory reporting, including management of financial accounting close processes and preparation of quarterly and annual reports, financial statements, notes and MD&A.
Overall responsibility for Canadian subsidiary and corporate accounting operations, including regulatory and legal entity reporting, as well as audit of financial statements.
Oversees regulatory reporting requirements for consolidated Bank and regulated Canadian subsidiaries.
Key liaison for External Audit/regulatory bodies at the consolidated Bank and subsidiary level.
Support key stakeholders on financial accounting, reporting and disclosure globally.
Overall responsibility for the design and operating effectiveness of appropriate internal controls for the department.
Support reporting to the Audit Committee for mandate over financial information, external audit and internal controls over financial reporting.
Data Steward for Enterprise General Ledger and Chart of Accounts. Accountable for the data governance and oversight for the Data Domain and provide leadership to drive adoption of the Banks data management strategy. Work closely and coordinate with members of the Domain Working Group to comply with the Banks Enterprise Data Management Policy Framework.
Oversight of global payment operations (vendor payments and expense claims), including global payments technology platform, standardization of processes and implementation of best practices for payment operations.
Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Banks risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Banks risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Education / Experience
CPA, CA;
10+ years progressive financial accounting and reporting experience;
Deep knowledge of IFRS;
A thorough understanding of major business processes within a financial institution and knowledge of Bank systems, including Finance-related systems are an asset;
Spanish speaking capability an asset.
