Purpose

 

 

Provides strategic direction, leadership and analytics efforts for their respective business line. The VP, Global Data & Analytics Solutions ensures business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.  The position plays a leading strategic role in defining and overseeing how the business captures, maintains, and applies data, analytics, and insights to support key business processes as well as driving adoption and integration efforts throughout.

 

 

 

Accountabilities

 

 

Lead a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen customer insights and relationships, and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge to add value to internal stakeholders
 

Act as a trusted advisor and partner, providing strategic direction and oversight for the development, prioritization, and implementation of advanced analytics models and use cases across each respective business line
 

Partner with senior leaders within functional areas and business units to understand business objectives and formulate / deliver customer-centric analytics solutions
 

Work with the business to identify new kinds, types and sources of data and applications for analytics to drive business innovation throughout the system, and define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.
 

Coordinate strategic plans across their respective business / functional areas to allow for faster scale and coordination across the enterprise by:

Acting as the subject matter expert to build capabilities and leverage the use of external benchmarking data points
Providing advice and counsel on the current state and direction of the business and how it aligns to the overall strategy
Prioritizing initiatives for strategic fit, revenue growth and structural cost

 

Act as a trusted advisor and partner, providing strategic direction and oversight for the development and implementation of advanced analytics models and use cases across each respective business line / corporate function
 

Accountable for the execution and delivery of the agreed-upon objectives for each respective business line / corporate function to ensure committed benefits/synergies are realized and responsible for providing updates on a regular basis
 

Partner with business line / corporate function to translate their business strategies and needs into analytics solutions that deliver value added customer centric solutions while coordinating with other Analytics Communities of Practice, Technology, and Risk
 

Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders in the countries (as applicable), to enable a culture that promotes critical thinking and change leadership
 

Drive forward multiple customer product or channel analytic projects that provides insights, guides strategy formulation and aids resource optimization.
 

Responsible for applied analytics, driving a better understanding of our customers and employees; inclusive of segmentation design and implementation.
 

Independent development and ongoing evaluation of statistical models and tools (where applicable) including productivity, response, next best product, profitability, and process optimization.
 

Key communicator of trends, performance and metrics to stakeholders (e.g., Technology, Operations, Digital teams) to drive financial benefit and improve operational efficiency.
 

Responsible for internal and external performance measurement, enabling benchmarking against internal and external (competitive/market) standards
 

Stimulates analytical thought leadership and move the bank forward in effective use of analytics.
 

Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
 

Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
 

Build a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
 

 

 

 

Education and Experience 

 

 

Masters / advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, MBA, FSA, or a PhD
Proven expert in analytics, data management and performance measurement
Recognized and resilient team leader who inspires a results oriented customer-centric culture
Exceptional business planning, strategy development and execution skills
Proven relationship management skills with demonstrated seamless collaboration across multiple stakeholders
Experience in leading teams and working with multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated strong collaborative skills—Analytics & Insights is a team sport
Strong consultative skills
Advanced research and survey design skills
Strong data set preparation and creation skills
Advanced statistical skills including working knowledge of GLM, structural equation modeling, factor analysis, text analytics, etc.
Advanced skills in analytics execution (e.g., R, Python, Spark)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain data and findings to a non-technical and executive audience
Ability to multitask and manage multiple research projects
Demonstrated strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking
 

 

 

Working Conditions

 

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  Limited travel domestically and internally.
