PURPOSE
Leads the development and adoption of the overall strategic direction and profitable growth for the Asset Management business, including Pensions, in applicable Countries within IWM international footprint, to maximize return and manage risk in compliance with regulations.
Oversees the execution of the strategy plans and specific initiatives providing proper sponsorship across international footprint.
Responsible for deploying investment funds manufacturing and investment management global standards and sales practices across all international footprint.
Responsible for fostering adequate integration with Global Asset Management to identify synergies, implement global target operating models and apply global practices for investment solutions.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout their teams to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Business Strategy & TOM
Lead the formulation and implementation of business strategies for international markets to address new market trends, changes in customer needs, competitors threats, regulatory and compliance environments in alignment with Global Asset Management strategic priorities.
Define and implement the target operating model aligned to Global Asset Management practices and best global industry practices; Lead the creation and sustainment of the asset management hubs.
Develop and maintain strategic alliances with key stakeholders including Global Asset Management, Internal partners, Industry organizations, Regulators, Investment Management firms and 3rd party providers.
Partner with IWM business delivery and transformation, Global Asset Management and Global Wealth Management Operations to deploy the systems and process to sustain the business growth across the international footprint.
Business Governance
Oversees the proper execution of local governance, as per regulatory requirements, serving as SME handling inquiries and leading the development of action plans;
Act as representative at key executive management committees, asset management entities boards and forums.
P&L Management
Lead the establish of business growth targets through annual planning cycle;
Set growth strategies based on client segments market/economic conditions, corporate objectives and competitive positioning; in alignment with local markets needs.
Set targets and lead the negotiation and approval process of annual budgets and balanced scorecards for International Asset Management units and Pension business.
Approve and ensure proper management of incentive frameworks (compensation, recognition and total rewards) for all in country teams across businesses (Pensions, Asset Mgmt. and Institutional Asset Mgmt.).
Investment Management
Oversee investment performance while liaising with support functions to provide oversight on investment management to drive adoption of best in-class portfolio management practices and competitive product shelf.
Responsible for executive oversight in Investment Management, strategy and investment committees across international footprint.
Oversees the performance of sub-advisory agreements between internal partners and third-party providers.
Risk and Regulatory Oversight
Oversees pensions and asset management portfolios and risk management functions, financial performance, in alignment to risk appetite framework, as well as operational and business standards.
Responsible for ensuring all regulatory/compliance requirements are met within required timeframes in all jurisdictions in which the business operates, as well as ensuring all systems and technology requirements are met in order to support each business appropriately. Foster an environment where leaders owns the risk and focus on continuing improvements in process efficiency/redesign of existing processes.
Embeds all elements of the risk appetite statement and risk appetite measures into activities to:
embed prudent risk taking into the risk culture and day-to-day management of risk and ensures alignment between the approved risk appetite, planning and decision making;
implement controls and processes to be able to effectively identify, monitor and report against allocated risk appetite measures; and
act in a timely manner to ensure effective management, and where necessary mitigation, of material risk exposures, those that are close to or exceed the approved risk appetite statement and/or risk appetite measures, and promptly escalate breaches in risk appetite to Global Risk Management.
Talent Management
Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education and Experience
University degree in business, finance, engineering or related field, or combination of equivalent education and experience
Post-Graduate degree (MBA, CFA) strongly preferred
Industry related designations (IFIC, Officers, Partners, Directors) strongly preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or related fields and MBA;
15+ years of professional experience in the financial services industry, preferably in the asset management or pension fund management industry;
Excellent relationship building and negotiation skills to foster strong supportive relationships with stakeholders across the organization in a highly complex multicultural environment;
Expert knowledge of Latin America and the Caribbean from a legal, regulatory, tax, economic, political and cultural standpoint;
