Job Summary
5i Research is offering a unique full-time position to a knowledgeable and motivated candidate. This role will have work from home flexibility but preference will be given to candidates living in the Kitchener/Waterloo region.
Responsibilities and Duties
Investment research (45%):
- Performing fundamental analysis on small and mid-capitalization Canadian equities
- Monitoring companies and updating reports when material events occur
- Providing research support on various themes, trends and opportunities as they arise
- Performing research to help with answering investor queries
ETF and mutual fund analysis (25%):
- Creating written content related to funds on a monthly basis
- Generating ideas for new topics to cover and analyses to perform
- Performing the analysis required to support content and articles related to ETFs
- Largely being responsible for creation of monthly issues and compilation of the ETF Update (etffundupdate.ca)
Review of client portfolios (25%)
- Analysis of investment portfolios by utilizing Microsoft Excel
- Organizing data into a simplified, presentable format so it can be compiled into a formal report
Aiding in model portfolio performance tracking (5%):
- Utilizing Excel to track returns of the model portfolios
- Vetting and reviewing accuracy of data
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate must have (we will not consider applicants without these qualifications):
- Minimum one-year of work experience in a financial analysis capacity
- Undergrad degree in a business or commerce program
- Proven interest in the capital markets
- Exceptional written communication skills, proven through submission of a writing sample *
- Currently pursuing the CFA designation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and an ability to adapt, learn and use various programs
