Position Description
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is currently seeking a keen and motivated full-time, contract (1 year) Research Analyst to work in the Krembil Family Epigenetics Laboratory. The successful candidate will primarily be involved in the lab work related to our ongoing research in the area of epigenomic research of complex diseases. The candidate will work with a large scientific team, interacting with scientists, post-doctoral fellows, research analysts, and graduate students. The Research Analyst position requires superior interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively and strategically with a variety of projects, as well as staff and internal/external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities will include DNA extraction, cell isolation and purification, PCR, qPCR, next-generation sequencing, microarray processing, bisulfite padlock probe library preparation and flow sorting of extracted cells. General lab duties such as data entry, supplies inventory and ordering, and maintaining equipment will also be required. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 250 College Street.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess an Honours Bachelors degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field and one (1) year of related experience. Applicant must have experience performing DNA and RNA extractions from the variety of tissues, PCR, qPCR and DNA sequencing. Experience with microarrays, NGS, single cell sequencing (sc-ATAC-seq and sc-RNA-seq), bisulfite padlock probe preparation, stem cell isolation and purification, and proficiency in designing, optimizing, performing multicolor panel FACS is an asset. The individual must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and have an experience in R based data analysis and manuscript preparation. Excellent communication skills (oral/written) and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic research team environment with minimal supervision are essential. Candidates should possess the ability for self-directed learning/working, with the ability to work concurrently on multiple projects. Applicants require the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and possess the ability to assist colleagues while maintaining a cooperative and collaborative working environment. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $24.18 – $32.25 per hour
