The Retail Markets organization within Manulife combines several business areas including; Individual Life products, Critical Illness insurance, Disability insurance, Mutual Funds, Segregated Funds and Annuities together with a focus on creating a better, more holistic experience for our advisors and customers.
The Retail I S team is looking for an experienced Business System Analyst who will be a member of the Application Management Services team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for in-depth analysis of production issues. A proven track record, aptitude to get up to speed quickly and ability to deep dive into issues is key for this incumbent. As well as have sharpened influencing and negotiation skills to work well with business stakeholders. The successful incumbent will also show an aptitude for learning, showing initiative and identification of opportunities for improvements. This position will provide opportunities for individuals to practice their craft of mentoring, leadership, relationship management, cost / benefit analysis and flexibility in a dynamic environment. Business Analysts in this environment are expected to demonstrate their in-depth analysis skills and solution oriented behaviors. This position will provide opportunity and experience across a wide array & scope of projects.

Responsibilities
In-Depth analysis of reported production problems.
Liaise with business partners to analyze problems of varying sizes, gather and document requirements and develop solution specifications
Establish test strategies, test plans and conduct the necessary testing across various technologies and platforms
Co-ordinate implementation activities within a complex and integrated environment adhering to all necessary security and control practices
Effectively communicate with key stakeholders and project partners onshore and offshore both verbally and in writing
Be an active member of the project team identifying issues, providing solutions, making recommendations, providing feedback – creating a sense of team across internal team members and vendors staff.
Further develop analytical capability and technical understanding in both yourself and the department on a regular and on-going basis Qualifications
3-5 + years of progressive experience in IS business systems analysis in a large complex environment
Strong analytical skills to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts
Flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple priorities, assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.
Strong and demonstrated interviewing, influencing, facilitation, and presentation skills
Demonstrated successful accomplishments working on a variety of complex IS projects
Ability to take a creative approach to problem solving and question traditional assumptions.
Organized and detail oriented with the ability to estimate and work on projects and tasks within an allotted timeframe.
Strong planning and monitoring skills to determine which activities are necessary to complete a business analysis effort using appropriate business analysis techniques.
Demonstrated strength at evaluating feasibility or practicality of ideas and options, assess risks and trade-offs and, make informed and timely decisions
Demonstrated experience with the Business Analysis life cycle including requirements gathering, analysis, and translation; the ability to prioritize and elaborate solution requirements to meet the needs of the stakeholders; writing functional specifications; and testing including testing tools, techniques, and user acceptance testing.
