ACCOUNTANT
Planet Energy – North York, ON
Planet Energy, a high growth retail natural gas and electricity supplier in the United States and Canada has an opening for an Accountant. This position, available at our corporate head office in North York, will take your career and skills to the next level by providing you with accounting exposure to regulated retail energy operations across several geographic regions. This is an entry level position and we will provide all required training.

Core Responsibilities:
- Gas and electricity accounting
- Commissions processing
- Customer receivables and vendor payments processing
- Banking transactions, wire transfers and bank reconciliations
- Month-end and year-end financial and sales tax reporting,
- financial information for regulatory filings
- Annual audit working papers and support.
- Maintain knowledge base of IFRS, income and sales tax rules, regulatory rules, business systems and internal business processes
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- University degree with specialization in accounting
- Existing accounting work experience will be an asset. This is an entry level position and we will provide all required software and business processes training.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of IFRS garnered from your Canadian university studies
- Working knowledge of HST/GST filing rules from your studies or work experience
- Intermediate excel skills (PIVOT, VLOOKUP, IF, SUMIF, COUNTA, CHARTS)
