Accounting Associate

honey is recruiting an Accounting Associate to join our team. This position offers hands-on experience in a range of accounting tasks.

As a member of the team you will be responsible for a variety of duties including:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The incumbent is a highly organized individual with the ability to multi-task with minimal supervision. S/He has a strong sense of accountability and is highly motivated to acquire new skills, handle communications and organizational tasks with speed, accuracy, respect, discretion and clarity. The position mandate is to ensure the implementation, efficiency and effectiveness of the accounts payable administration through functions and processes.

Responsibilities and Duties

– Audit and analyze all invoices and expenses for potential errors and/or discrepancies

– Cost/Benefit Analysis on expenses by way of analyzing the strengths & weaknesses of alternatives

– Develop and maintain cost finding, reporting and internal control procedures

– Responsible for audit and analysis of Freight/Duty on imported goods

– Bank reconciliations and cash deposit audits

– Accurately processing Accounts Payable data

– Reconcile statements from vendors and follow up on discrepancies

– Bi-weekly consignment reporting

– Maintain communication with vendors regarding outstanding issues, invoices, payments, etc

– Perform monthly internal store audits related to sales, inventory counts, register discrepancies, paid out listings, manual bills books, bank deposit books, etc

– Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners

– Additional administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

– Accounting diploma or working towards accounting degree or diploma

– 2-3 years of Accounting and/or Accounts Payable experience

– Accurately calculate, post, correct, manage accounting figures and financial records

– Effective attention to detail and a high degree of data entry accuracy

– Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills

OUR “MUST HAVES”

– STRONG command of English

– ADVANCED knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

– Solid analytical and problem solving skills

– Strong attention to detail and a high degree of data entry accuracy

– Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities under pressure
