INNOVAmed is Canada’s largest distributor of ophthalmic instruments, with products ranging from diagnostic equipment to treatment lasers. We currently have an opening for a Junior Accountant in our Toronto Head Office (Victoria Park and Lawrence).
This position requires a smart, hardworking, detailed oriented individual who has the ability to multi-task and stays organised through-out their daily duties. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor the Junior Accountant will need to be a process oriented quick learner that thrives in an environment that offers the ability to make suggestions for improvements and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the collection of part of the AR aged balance
- Contact customers requesting payment status; provide payment options and forward invoice copies or statements accounts as requested.
- Assist customers and colleagues with any discrepancies regarding account balances
- Liaise and meet with Supervisor on client accounts
- Assist team to ensure payments are posted correctly
- Ensure all client files and notes are up to date and accurate in the ERP
- Banking
- Assist with reconciliation of EFT, Wire and Credit Card Payments received if needed
- Process employee expense reports via Travel Expense Reporting System
- Run Customer Statements at Month-End
- Process Accounts Payable
- Maintain clerical filings
- Other Accounting and clerical duties as assigned
The successful candidate will possess the following experience and/or skills:
- Previous experience handing confidential information (internal bank statements, cheques, external – customer information)
- Process orientated and highly organised person
- Detail oriented, Problem Solving Skills – obtaining approvals for transactions, reviewing and identifying discrepancies, and data entry
- Customer service experience is required SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics or similar accounting software is considered an asset
- Background in Accounting obtained through Post Secondary Education
