ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, ETF SERVICES

 

Purpose

As we expand our ETF Services franchise, we are looking for a quantitative-minded candidate to join our growing team. The candidate would be involved in blending business and technology, with a focus on using advanced techniques for pricing and hedging ETFs with exposure to the full spectrum of asset classes and geographies. The candidate would also be involved in the management of trading positions and market risk.

 

The candidate would be part of a dynamic and fast-paced team that is closely integrated with the complete range of capital markets functions within Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets.

 

Accountabilities

Participate in the day-to-day operations of Scotiabank’s ETF Services trading desk;
Develop and apply quantitative techniques to price and hedge ETF products, in North America and beyond;
Interact with clients, providing advice and guidance on ETF issues facing institutional investors;
Continually enhance high-performance market-making infrastructure, liaising with technology team to develop best-in-class software solutions;
Analyze and back-test market making algorithm performance;
Contribute to the models used to identify trading opportunities, including in relation to macroeconomic trends and company-specific events;
Provide accurate and competitive pricing to meet the needs of our clients;
Identify creative hedging opportunities to effectively manage risk; and
Champions a high performing environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
 

Dimensions

ETF market making & risk management, including transaction cost analysis in this space;
Asset classes include equities, fixed income, FX, preferred shares, convertible debentures;
Experience implementing mathematical models, including advanced statistical techniques;
Software development background an asset; and
A critical thinker that communicates clearly.
 

Qualifications

5+ years experience ETF market making, quantitative portfolio management, or a related field;
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math;
Preferred advanced graduate degree in a STEM field;
Demonstrated experience with software development and integration;
High proficiency in Excel, including VBA and data structuring; and
Experience with Bloomberg, Python, R, Matlab or related tools.
