Business Intelligence Analyst – Global Compliance

Overview

Within Scotiabank’s Global Compliance department, the Data Analytics team is looking to hire Business Intelligence Analyst who will work closely with business partners, technology teams, engineering teams, data architects, data modelers and other analytics teams in the Bank to unlock the power of data and draw impactful insights to support decision-making and day-to-day operations in compliance.

The incumbent should demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners—including technologists, product managers, engineers, designers and senior leadership. The Business Intelligence Developer will contribute to the overall success of the global compliance team in protecting the Bank’s customers thereby keeping their trust in our ability to provide excellent services all the time

 

Responsibilities

Be hands-on. Design, Prototype and Productionize reports and dashboards for leadership, management and compliance operations teams.
Be an owner. Ensure accuracy, timeliness and traceability of metrics generated and published in official dashboards.
Be a trainer. Design and deliver training to various users of reports and dashboards.
Be agile. Design, implement, iterate.
Develops and maintains ETL processes in accordance to data standards and defined requirements.
Ability to respond and deliver on ad-hoc requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Participates in the design of logical data model and implements physical operational data stores and data marts.
Influences teammates and stakeholders to understand data from a compliance perspective.
Drives consensus across teams to achieve consistency in data, reporting methodology and metric calculations.
Builds and maintains proper documentation, data lineage and extract-transform-load (ETL) processes.
Participate in planning and retrospective sessions, attend stand-ups, etc.
Maintains a good understanding of the Bank’s business strategies, policies, risk management and IT processes and disciplines. Requirements
University degree in relevant STEM discipline (Computer Sciences, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Mathematics)
At least 3 years of hands-on programming experience and advanced knowledge of SQL and Python.
At least 3 years of experience in implementing and managing visualization tools such as Power BI, or Tableau.
SQL Server and SSIS expertise is highly desirable.
2+ years of experience in cleaning, transforming and visualizing data sets. working from various data formats (e.g. unstructured logs, XML, JSON, flat files)
Experience with agile methodologies, source control management and building processes.
Excellent communication skills, with a strong customer-focus.
Nice-to-have experience with statistical analysis and machine learning with common machine learning libraries in R or Python.
