The Director, Technology Initiatives is a key member of the Technology Transformation team, a high performing team with the mandate to design, develop technology strategy and execute large scale technology transformation programs for the Bank. The Director works closely with senior executives, business line leaders and a diverse set of stakeholders to assess current capabilities, identify opportunities and design future state operating model, capabilities and implementation roadmaps. The Director is also responsible for driving key transformation initiatives from inception to execution to accelerate delivery of value. 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

 

Provide customized strategy development and advisory support to the technology organization at an enterprise and business line level. This would include research, analysis and compelling strategic recommendations that solve business problems. 
Lead competitive / business environment research and benchmarking to determine emerging issues and trends and analyze the impact / implications of those trends on the Bank’s technology strategy
Gather data and perform financial analyses to diagnose issues
Create financial models to assess future state financial benefits / costs
Lead project workstreams, including leading problem solving sessions, workshops and interviews with cross-functional and business line working team members and subject matter experts
Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes
Lead in the identification, evaluation and prioritization of projects and allocation of resources based on value to the business, changing functional needs, risk exposure and interdependencies
Provide guidance to project delivery teams to develop integrated project plans including adequate work breakdown structure, key inter-dependencies, milestones and resource allocation
Manage the development, implementation and sustainment of effective governance processes, including portfolio optimization, and manage project to plan, to swiftly address key risks, issues and changes arising through the program
Manage the creation of reports for various committees, including and up to the Board
Contribute to portfolio intake, funding and approval, status monitoring and reporting, risk identification and escalation, change control and closure and value assurance/sustainment
Lead the identification, documentation, assessment, and monitoring of project dependencies, risks, issues, providing recommendations and documenting decisions
Engage with business and IT stakeholders, deep diving into workstream issues to drive resolution

Prior experience and working knowledge of various IT concepts (e.g., IT & Digital strategy, operating model, enterprise architecture, complex program delivery, IT innovation – blockchain, FinTechs etc.)
Good knowledge of the specific technology challenges relevant to Banking industry with a sound understanding of current banking business trends and their implications for technology 
Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information / data and focus on the critical business issues
Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners and external vendors
Exceptional presentation and written communication skills 
Proven track record delivering innovative solutions from concept to change management
Management consulting experience and banking industry knowledge 
 

Education & Experience

 

Undergraduate degree in business or engineering; graduate business degree/MBA is a strong asset
Experience in technology consulting in a global consulting organization is a must, execution and project management experience within technology is an asset
Self-motivated and Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment
Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information / data and focus on the critical business issues
Exceptional presentation and written communication skills 
Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners and external vendors
Proven track record delivering innovative solutions from concept to change management
Excellent knowledge with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
