Lead Data Engineer

The Role

The Lead Data Engineer contributes to the overall success of the Global Finance & Risk Technology, Technology, Operations and Digital in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

 

Some of the Key Accountabilities include:

7+ years of experience developing and managing dimensional data warehousing solutions.
5+ years of hands-on experience in ETL and query tools including SAS, T-SQL, SSIS, dbVisualizer and Beeline
Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server ecosystem including SSMS, SSIS, SSAS, Data Tools and Visual Studio
Experience in Reporting tools including Power BI Report Server and Services, Power BI Desktop
Experience in Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GIT, TFS/Azure DevOps
Knowledge of International Banking source systems data models and IDR is an asset
Excellent communication and presentation skills (written/verbal)
University degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science related field
 

 

What You Will Bring to Succeed:

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Executes International Banking Caribbean CRM data management strategy. Delivers data driven customer campaign management solution and data analytics support while ensuring data and application IT Risk and governance compliance
Identifies talent, builds and manages a high-performance team of developers by providing technical direction of Data Warehouse Lifecycle Methodology and standard development practices.
Builds and maintains a strong working relationship with peers across the business lines including key stakeholders in International Retail Products and Marketing, Corporate and Commercial Banking, and  Global Risk Management
Supports, maintains and enhances International Banking Infor Omni Channel campaign management solution (Epiphany), Customer centric data mart and Caribbean Power BI reporting platform
Designs, develops and maintains complex distributed data pipelines, relational databases and API based interfaces with other banking systems and applications leveraging SAS and Microsoft technology stack including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS as well as Big Data technologies
Designs and develops reporting capabilities leveraging Power BI Reporting Server and Analytical SSAS cubes
Effectively implements SDLC across the specification, design, build, test, and deployment phases of development. Enables Agile culture and facilitates Scrum and Kanban
Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
