Manager, Strategic Support – Global Compliance

Purpose

We are looking for a motivated, analytical professional with a passion for operational excellence. From day one, the candidate will contribute to the overall success of the Governance and Strategy function. This will include ensuring goals, plans, and initiatives are delivered in support of the team’s business objectives and providing efficient and effective administrative and operational support. The incumbent ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Reporting to the VP, Governance and Strategy, the Manager, Strategic Support will help to maximize impact. There are three critical areas where this is achieved: effective time management, strategic support and relationship management.

 

Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Act as a trusted partner to the VP, helping to define priorities and ensuring they are set up to achieve them by:
Driving the effectiveness and efficiency of the VP’s time and ensuring it aligns with the most critical priorities
Gathering necessary information and analyses from various sources and key stakeholders, to identify opportunities for synergies to drive operational awareness and meet objectives
Building an understanding of the critical work that is happening across the business group and surfacing issues and challenges
Proactive identification of issues that could impact the successful execution of commitments. This responsibility involves elevating those issues that the VP should be aware of and framing/positioning ideas to resolve the problem/mitigate the risk
Acting as a liaison to leaders and external stakeholders, as appropriate, to help advance both the division’s priorities and the bank’s strategic priorities
Serving as secretary in management team meetings and Executive Committee meetings, recording follow-ups and deliverables
Orchestrating and facilitating group events, meeting agendas, logistics, and follow-ups
Ensuring that meetings, deadlines, presentations, and other duties of the VP’s office are carried out seamlessly
Supporting on key priorities for the year and ahead and coordinate with groups responsible for priorities to receive consistent and frequent updates on progress being made
Coordinating executive communications, including taking calls, responding to emails and interfacing with internal/external partners
Preparing internal and external corporate documents, reports, and presentations for team members and industry partners
Scheduling meetings and appointments and manage travel itineraries
Arranging corporate events to take place outside of the work place, such as fund-raising events and staff appreciation events
Maintaining an organized filing system of electronic and paper documents and look for ways to improve current systems
Upholding a strict level of confidentiality
Developing and sustaining a level of professionalism among staff and clientele
Conducting regular back-up of systems data/documents
Providing support for reporting and expense management

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

 

Education / Experience / Other Information

University degree from a top / Ivy League school, preferably in the disciplines of Business Management, and Communications
2+ year experience in a leading consulting firm and proven track record of being a top contributor to strategic projects
Effective communication skills. The ability to clearly communicate with leadership and others in the organization is paramount; especially in fast-paced moments, you’ll need to be clear and ask for clarity in return
Strong writing and verbal skills; The ability to communicate information clearly is fundamental to this role. You will be asked to draft documents, edit others, and communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
Proven experience creating polished decks and related content for Senior leadership, and mastery of excel
Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities
Ambitious, top performer that thrives in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment
A sense of ownership; The incumbent is expected to be responsive but also proactive, addressing needs that the VP may not be aware of
Ability to work calmly and intentionally under pressure
