The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) – Infrastructure Operations provides technology solutions and platforms supporting various business lines.  We are centred around run-and-build activities for core infrastructure technologies.  This includes our Global Systems Operations Centre (GSOC), cloud operations, data centre operations, critical facilities, storage and mainframe.

 

The role:

You will be responsible for systems level support for production critical systems, development systems, implementation support and user acceptance environment support on a global basis.  This support comprises of technical assistance, troubleshooting and prevention of all our global Network Area Storage (NAS) devices in a 24×7 production environment.

 

You will also be expected to perform systems capacity planning and recommendation of solutions to overcome resource constraints, systems level software, patches and firm-code installation and updates.  There is a rotational on-call component for this role.

 

The primary work location of this position is in Etobicoke.  While we currently work remotely from home, when we can physically go back into the office, the expectation will be a work week split into 2 days in the office and 3 days at home.

 

Is this role right for you?

You will perform NAS troubleshooting and be involved in multiple technical projects.
You will collaborate with various teams to come up with optimal solutions and you may take various roles which may include creating detailed design documents, failover and operational runbooks and implementation steps.
You will work closely with a team of 5 other resources who are all highly competent in this field of expertise and your role will require you to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in this field.
You are responsible for sending consistent and timely communications to business and IT stakeholders.
You will work with the global team to implement global framework to standardize tools, process and technologies related to software deployment.
You will be involved in automating routine procedures to improve support efficiency.
 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

You have strong communication (verbal/written) skills in order to interact with both technical & non-technical stakeholders; and produce written technical documentation for presentation.
You have at least 8+ years of progressive hands-on technical working experience in Network Engineering, specific to SAN and/or NAS.
You have at least 4+ years of hands-on technical working experience with supporting a Synchronous Metro Fabric Cluster.
You have at least 6+ years of hands-on technical working experience with supporting an Asynchronous AFF & FAS technology.
You have at least 4+ years of hands-on technical working experience with supporting NetApp SnapVault technology.
You have at least 4+ years of hands-on technical working experience with supporting Amazon S3 Object store technology.
You have completed your post-secondary education in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or in a related Network Technology focused studies.
You have completed your NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) ONTAP® certification.
Hands-on technical working experience in shell scripting with Perl and/or Power Shell is an asset.
