The Team

Global Finance & Risk Technology (GFRT) works in partnership with Finance and Global Risk Management to deliver the insights and technology solutions for analyzing and managing credit, asset/liability, liquidity risk and capital regulatory initiatives.

 

The Role

The Product Specialist will support the Finance team for Capital Reporting, being a SME who understand the credit and retail risk data and help translate to the risk regulations requirements, participate and provide design and solutions for various RWA optimization initiatives. The person is also a key to support understand and translate management and other Regulatory reports for OSFI.

 

Some of the Key Accountabilities include:

Work on various initiatives and support the business strategies to help modernize and enhance the Bank’s Capital Reporting capabilities.
Work with Business lines to understand the RWA optimizations and output floors requirements and provide meaningful recommendations and help with implementation. Champion being a business data steward to help manage the CDE.      
Maintain an awareness of emerging trends and best practices in Technology and Solution designs, both within and outside of Scotiabank to ensure we provide best client experience and quick solution for our business partners. 
Act as a mentor to team by providing guidance and/or coaching as a SME on Capital Reporting
Develop and provide a range of management reports/metrics, using data to drive decisions, Analyses trends from data & provide value-added solutions to operational problems
 

What You Will Bring to Succeed

Good understanding and Regulatory Reporting experience in Basel and Credit Risk Regulations, change management over 7+ years.
Strong Business Knowledge of Capital RWA Computation and Calculations. Calculating EAD, PD, LGD and other risk metrics.
Business knowledge of Market Risk, Economic Capital, Capital Planning, Solo, BCAR processes.
Strong diagnostic skills followed by good ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations for solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues.
Active collaboration with Business stakeholders in facilitating functional, data flow and solution design discussions
Work closely with Business and other IT teams and provide support and direction to various project and steady state related work items
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and presentation) in order to effectively liaise with business users, vendors, other departments and members of project team.
