Purpose: Contributes to the overall success of ScotiaMcLeod Sales Management in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities 
•    Ownership of ScotiaMcLeod’s Branch Manager compensation program including program structure design, financial planning and forecasting as well as calculation and reconciliation of actuals.

•    Partner with CWM Finance to ensure branch level reporting is accurate, planning and forecasting is reflective of business knowledge, and cost allocation methodologies are appropriately designed and correctly executed.

•    Provide technical expertise in defining data requirements, identifying sources, and assimilating data across various sources to develop and design models to assess the impact of business initiatives, changes to performance measures, business metrics, and scorecards on Branch Management and Advisor Teams in order to enhance branch profitability and create solutions where common trends are identified.

•    Collaborate with business partners (CWM Finance and SWM Business Analytics & Reporting) to develop strategies to continually identify opportunities to streamline data management, track various cross business metrics while embedding quality controls prior to ensure  accuracy prior to distribution.

•    Proactively identify and recommend improvements to operationalize efficiencies and the quality of deliverables with the view of continued development of processes to analyze, report, and escalate as needed.

•    Manage the preparation of key analytical information into comprehensive reports, including background and purpose, concise summaries of key data, observations and findings, recommendations and next steps on a monthly, quarterly and year-end reports. Stakeholders  include: Canadian Banking, Canadian Wealth Management, Scotia Wealth Management, ScotiaMcLeod Regional Management, Branch Management Teams and Advisor Teams.

•    Design and development of automated processes to execute scheduled deliverables which can be provided to other areas of Sales Management in order to improve operating efficiency. Provide oversight and supervision of processes once established within other areas of  the organization.

•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 

•    Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment as well as a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
 

Education / Experience 

•    3-5 years of experience operating at a managerial level of responsibility, performing a similar function in a comparable setting.
•    University Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance or Related Area of Study (or equivalent experience and/or other educational experience).
•    A professional accounting designation, MBA or similar post-secondary education is considered an asset.
•    Strong understanding of ScotiaMcLeod’s business model and operating processes.
•    Strong understanding of the Bank’s financial infrastructure and processes (source ledger systems, EGL/OBI etc.)
•    Experience with Planning, Forecasting and Analysis.
•    Advanced proficiency with MS Office with advanced use of Excel and MS Access. Ability to build complex spreadsheets and financial models pulling in and analyzing large volumes of data from multiple sources. Ability to code in VBA and use complex formulas, nested               queries to create user friendly reporting that provides actionable intelligence to Sales Management and the field.
•    Advanced proficiency in VBA and SQL programming languages.
•    Strong triaging skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines with attention to detail and focus on data accuracy, often under tight timelines
•    Strong analytical skills and ability to assess requests for data, and assimilate information from various sources, identify themes and trends and develop sound insights and recommendations
•    Strong communication skills and presentation skills; ability to present large amounts of data clearly, concisely and comfortably to senior leadership.
•    Customer service focused and an appreciation for working with a sense of urgency.
