The Team

The Global Finance Planning and Forecast Team is responsible for deploying, managing and maintaining finance Planning and Forecast solutions within Scotiabank catering to various business lines and enterprise finance functions

 

The Role

As a software engineer you will be responsible for developing and supporting planning and forecasting applications for our global finance team along with integrations with other finance technology solutions.

 

Some of the Key Accountabilities include:

Work with Sr. Management/Director of the team to drive strategy to transform and modernize our platforms using new technologies and tools available that best support the business needs and growth. 
Participant in the design, development and implementation of effective and quality solutions that resolve highly complex business problems and support business needs.
Utilize diverse set of technologies to implement new systems, or enhancements of existing implementations, and ensure sound integration with surrounding components from end to end operational perspective.
Ensure that delivery meets the integrity, quality, performance and reliability requirements by building automated testing and regression suites and use of DevOps principles.
Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment
Have broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through to back-end systems.
 

What You Will Bring to Succeed

Have broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through to back-end systems.
4+ years of strong development experience in Java, Springboot.
2+ years of experience working with fluency on Linux environment with Linux command line, and shell script.
Python experience is nice to have.
3+ React experience.
.NET experience is a nice to have
Experience with DevOps and continuous delivery and deployment methodologies based off bitbucket, Microsoft TFS, Jenkins.
Experience with cloud-based application and microservices (Azure or GCP) would be an asset.
Knowledge of Power BI and SSAS..
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving skills.
Good understanding of object-oriented design and design patter
Experience working with agile methodology is a benefit
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-directed – works effectively both independently and in a team environment
