As Senior Manager, Project Management, Change Initiatives, the incumbent contributes to the overall success of the Change Initiatives, Retail & Business Service Centres in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

The Senior Manager, Project Management, Change Initiatives, is responsible for leading end to end project management for small to large sized Business Line projects. This includes project planning, scheduling, scope definition of project, specification of requirements, budget management, and testing, through to successful delivery and transition to support, as well as managing assigned resources, overseeing business related tasks and building relationships with other areas to achieve project goals.

 

The role is also responsible for the scope assessment, design, management and implementation of medium-to-large scale strategic projects and initiatives. The Senior Manager, Project Management, Change Initiatives operates in a highly dynamic project environment and is expected to lead multiple, multifunctional project teams while quickly adapting to evolving business priorities.

 

What Your Role Will Be:

 

 

Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
 

Lead the Planning of Business Line activities for assigned approved projects:
Facilite planning sessions, securing required business resources, creating and managing to the project plan. 
Responsible for assessing Risks to project timeline, cost or scope must be identified and mitigation strategies established. 
Represent Business Lines in creating the implementation and rollout strategy, the project test strategy and assisting in determining user training needs.
Develop the calendaring of all planning steps including strategy planning and business planning in collaboration with business partners.
 

Manage the execution of the Business Line’s Project plan:
Organize and facilitate the development of a structured, detailed and disciplined project plan based on a good understanding of the impact on the business and key support functions.
Manage and mentor assigned project resources, leading the business requirements definition.
Oversee the user acceptance testing effort and successfully implement new business processes.
Responsible for review and management of project documentation and budget
Influence and negotiate with project participants, senior management and all other stakeholders to maintain support, negotiate priorities and ensure the project stays on track.

Lead the ongoing assessment and support  of Business Line’s strategic projects and initiatives:
Define and prioritize technology and operational projects to meet the needs of the business.
Manages complex projects with broader business scope and multiple work streams (may include IT streams).
Provide post-implementation status updates and support to all senior stakeholders to ensure ongoing project success Identify project drivers, defining and monitoring scope, budget and schedules.
Lead the benefits analysis and drafting of the project business case.
Should the project (s) have an IT business stream within the scope of the project, this component of the position will be managed by an IT Project Manager with input from this role.
Developing reports, as needed, on the major trends impacting the markets, the evolving competitive environment and business strategic imperatives.
 

Communication of status and escalation of project issues to Business Line Management and any other Stakeholders (i.e. IT&S):
Drive the transition of the project implementation plan to support and ensure business needs continue to be met and documentation of lessons learned are communicated to all Business Line Project Managers.
Tracking, monitoring and communicating the progress of initiatives against defined project
Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Business Line’s project methodologies, strategies and policies, risk management practices, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, Back Office processes and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide effective business solutions and services to internal clients and users.
 

 

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
 

Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Skills You Already Have:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, with excellent academic record
PMP, Process Improvement, Change Management and Agile certifications are considered assets
3+ years of demonstrated project management experience, leading large scale and complex transformations
Ability to develop compelling business cases, including cost benefit analysis
Applies strong conflict management skills to negotiate effective resolution of issues/disputes
Employs strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present information to relevant stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Works effectively with limited supervision and under pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner
Leadership in a professional setting and/or through extracurricular activities
Multitasking and managing priorities and expectations
Entrepreneurial drive, critical thinking and excellent judgement skills
Leading training/presentations to diverse audiences
Working collaboratively in a team environment
Communicating complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated aptitude for analytics and technology is an asset
